Vikings Not Purchasing Lots From StarTribune

I wonder if the following story will affect the four Viking tailgating lots.

Vikings deal to buy Star Tribune property falls through

http://www.startribune.com/vikings/story/1389888.html

The Minnesota Vikings are backing away from an agreement to buy four blocks near the Metrodome from the Star Tribune, newspaper officials announced late this morning.
The Vikings cited the impacts from the Aug. 1 collapse of the Interstate 35W bridge and a turbulent credit market for causing them to re-evaluate their plans, according to Star Tribune Publisher Par Ridder.

The newspaper will continue to consolidate its operations into its main building at 425 Portland Av. and close the Freeman Building across 4th Street S.

In a news release, Ridder indicated that the newspaper's parent company, Avista Capital Partners, will continue to work with real estate advisors to determine a next step.

The web site on Vikings.com and the site to buy them are still up.

God, I hope this doesn't fall through...

Re: Vikings Not Purchasing Lots From StarTribune

The Vikings had been angling for a new stadium on the downtown blocks, with a project coast soaring toward $1 billion. Owner Zygi Wilf bought three downtown parking lots in May for $5 million and had been negotiating to buy the underground ramp between the Star Tribune and the Metrodome — under the light rail station — for a reported $14.5 million. That ramp is owned by the city of Minneapolis.
...from the article that said the purchase is falling through.
Looks like the Tailgating area and the deal falling through are two separate transactions.

VIKES TO SAIL WEST?

The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that the Vikings are "backing away" from an agreement to purchase four blocks near the Metrodome from the Star Tribune.

The team cited a "turbulent credit market" for the decision.

If a legally a binding agreement existed, the Star-Tribune could have legal rights to relief.
The broader question, however, is whether the move is the first step toward an eventual move by the Vikings to Los Angeles.
At least one industry source has suggested to us that it could be.

I considered starting a thread about it to get some more attention to the subject, but this is good enough I guess.

First look up, is the sky falling? No, good.
The Vikings aren't going anywhere. This is a good market and although I doubt a stadium deal will get done this year, there is enough interest that I'm sure with in the next 5 years something will happen that all sides will agree on. I don't think there is even enough man power in the state to go ahead with a new stadium. With the Gophers and Twins both getting new stadiums, and the new bridge they are planning on building in record time, we would have to ship in people to do the construction on a new stadium and that doesn't have as many benefits to the MN economy.

Did the story where you found that fabulous photoshop make any mention of the financing for that stadium?
