Erasmus James recorded five NFL sacks, Williamson's career was plagued by drops. The Vikings passed on Antrel Rolle, Carlos Rogers, DeMarcus Ware, Shawne Merriman, Jammal Brown, Derrick Johnson, Aaron Rodgers, Roddy White, Heath Miller and Logan Mankins.
OUCH! D'oh!! But thats what happens when you miss in the 1st round...other teams get the even better value!

SKOL VIKINGS!!! GET THIS ONE RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is what happens when you try to reach for need rather than taking the best player. Of course with a skeleton scouting staff it's hard to make the best evaluation of talent.

It's easy to show the good players they passed up on after the fact. Hindsight is 20/20.

I wonder how many "busts" they've passed on.

An article in ESPN magazine has the Packers as the best draft value team since the NFL draft went to seven rounds.

The Vikings are in the middle of the pack.

Can't disagree really. Just the fact alone both of their last all-pro QBs were 2nd and late 1st round quarterbacks. That's pretty dang good.

Favre wasn't drafted by the Packers.

Good point, not sure how I forgot that one...

Either way, they have continually drafted fairly well, especially on defense. Then they compliment it with a sprinkling of guys who come in and make an impact as mid-round player.

Now, of course it helps to have an All-pro QB throwing, makes any lineman and receiver better.
