    Re: Vikings Looking at Linebackers....

i'd love to see sharper suiting up in purple.
lots of people are saying he doesn't have much left in his tank, but the vikings wouldn't be bringing him in to start.
if he wins a starting spot, then fantastic, but he's only for depth.
IMO if we got him we'd have a mighty deep LB corps.
and if he sticks around longer than a year and greenway comes back, we'll have a very good linebacker corps.
i'd be more comfortable with sharper playing MLB than Napo.
i'd like to give napo a chance, but sharper has proven he can play at a high level.
and darren says he could play weakside or middle, but he also started as SAM, so that means if there is an injury, or someone isn't up to par, he could play at any LB position.
i think this would be the best possible pickup.

Could he REALLY play the middle?
Just in case Napo craps out!

Still, we all know who would be the best fit!!!
Could back up both places i guess and battle out for a starting spot also.. the only lock so far i guess is strongside - Leber!

EJ is a lock at the weak side.
What we've got here is failure to communicate.

Not if we brought in Jamie Sharper

EJ is a lock at the weak side.
considering that greenway was "challenging" ej for a starting job, i'd say he wasn't a lock.

even if he doesn't have much in his tank, he's only a short term solution.
EJ and Greenway will most likely be vikings for a long time as long as ej plays well this season.
kind of how BJ is a short term solution at QB

Lets not forget about Dontarrious Thomas.

I believe he was all american in college, at least all conference in the strong SEC, he's fast, he's strong, he's smart SEC Scholar Athlete of the year I believe. But he played really ugly under Cottrell, I think this year, especially after seeing him play on monday, he will excel, and be a staple of our D along with Chad for a while, although he does play the outside just like Chad and EJ, so either, EJ will return to the middle, or one of them is gone.

EJ also boasts great college credits as well, Butkus and Bednarik trophies.

We have great young talent at LB and I think having a young defensive coordinator will help them a lot. But I think the best thing we could possibly do is bring in a guy like Donnie Edwards, if he is available, we should definitely bring him in. An excellent veteran linebacker, and on field leader could teach so much to our young 3-4 linebackers, I dont know how old Napo is, but I thnk he's still pretty young, not to mention what he brings to the table on his own, I really think he'll play the MLB position perfectly in the Minnesota 2 defense.

Adding Jamie Sharper wouldn't hurt anytrhing.. He would have to come a little cheaper then his previous contract though.. Who knows, maybe adding Jamie would motivate both Sharper's into playing great football..
