Vikings | Sharper would like to stay a Viking until he retires
Wed, 23 Apr 2008 21:38:27 -0700
Sean Jensen, of the Pionerr Press, reports Minnesota Vikings SS Darren Sharper is scheduled to become a free agent after the 2008 season. Sharper said, "My heart is to stay here because we have a great team in place to make a run for three or four years. I love winning, and the last thing I have to accomplish in my career is to win a Super Bowl, and I feel this is the best place to do it. I want something to work out because I want to retire in Minnesota." Shaper insists he is not looking for a new contract. "My focus is not on a contract," he added. "My focus now is to help this team win as many games as possible in 2008, so we can accomplish all our goals."

Vikings | Team owner issues capital call
Thu, 24 Apr 2008 10:40:16 -0700
Kevin Seifert, of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, reports Minnesota Vikings owner Zygi Wilf issued a capital call for just under $20 million to his investment partners, according to people with knowledge of the situation. Without the capital call, the team would not have been able to pay the $16.25 million DL Jared Allen will earn this season. Allen's contract in 2009 will most likely result in a similar request next year. If that happens, it will be the team's fourth capital call in four years.
