The Associated Press reports the Minnesota Vikings' defense scored three touchdowns Friday, Aug. 17, off turnovers by the New York Jets. S Darren Sharper had a 40-yard interception return for a score while LB Chad Greenway had a 16-yard interception returned for a touchdown. DE Brian Robinson also returned a fumble for a touchdown during the game.

Sean Jensen, of the Pioneer Press, reports the Minnesota Vikings and unrestricted free-agent WR Robert Ferguson (Packers) have had "very preliminary" contract discussions, according to Ferguson's agent, Brian Overstreet. Overstreet said Ferguson would like to make a quick decision on his new team. Ferguson met with the Vikings and worked out for the coaching staff Sunday, Aug. 19.

Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress said he sees QB Tarvaris Jackson every day in practice so he has a "decent idea" what he is capable of. In regards to seeing more out of him in preseason games, Childress said they will continue to script plays but they are not looking to see him throw it 50 times. He said Jackson will probably start their next preseason game.
