Vikings | Jackson impressive in preseason game

Kevin Seifert, of the Star Tribune, reports Minnesota Vikings QB Tarvaris Jackson was focused and decisive during the team's preseason game Friday, Aug. 11. Jackson never came close to getting sacked and avoided throwing into coverage. Five of his eight completions went to wide receivers, but he was also willing to check-down to his running back and fullback. Head coach Brad Childress said, "I just thought he had a good command of the offense and that's what you're looking for. Is he looking in the right spot? Is he making the right adjustments, the right reads? He didn't stand back there and nurse the ball. He moved when he had to move, when the pocket broke down, and I thought he was decisive with what he was doing."

I'm shocked to see some of the people thata are on the bubble.
People like Carter, Edwards, Fason, Whitaker, etc...
That may be a good thing because it says there is depth.

Gonna be some tough cuts coming, and we are going to lose some good players. But the competition only makes for a better team.

I am dreading the first round of cuts.


Even though the coaches know more than us and are keeping the best talent, there will be beeeeyatching from posters who had a favorite get cut.

Thank God Seppo Evwaraye is a lock. I might have to get his jersey.

Wow, a lot of solid young guys that were here last year were on the bubble. You have to give someone like Blue another season, he deserved it.

What is up with Glenn/Alexander? First Alexander was on IR, then he got cut, then Glenn was injured, then he retired....are neither still with the team?

I wouldn't mind seeing Whittaker get cut, not a fan.
I hope they keep Devonte or Gordon over him anyways.
Clearly see they are looking for some diamonds in the rough on the WR's, we are trying out about 40 of them.
With only Wade, Williamson and Rice being slotted on the roster, a couple of these guys should get their chance.
McMullin, whatever, hope someone steps up and takes his spot.
Not that I'm against the dude, just like to see an upgrade in talent if possible.

Blue and Tank are in a tough spot with a deep and talented safety group to compete against.
Don't see Sharper, Smith or Doss losing spots unless they get injured.
how many corners will we keep?
Winfield, Griffin, McAuley should have spots.
Leaving it up to Edwards, Gordon, Whitaker, Brody, Hawkins and Wishom.
If its 5 we keep, then Edwards and Gordon seem most probably. Although I've been hearing Brody's name a fair amount in the practice highlights.

Judd Zulgad, of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, reports Minnesota Vikings DT Fred Evans is scheduled to appear in Miami-Dade (Fla.) County Court Thursday, Aug. 16. Evans has been charged with two felonies as well as one misdemeanor for trespassing, stemming from a fight with police that occurred June 23. Evans originally pleaded not guilty to the charges: assault on a police officer and resisting arrest.

Mike Wobschall, of Vikings.com, reports Minnesota Vikings DE Erasmus James says he feels the Vikings' defensive line will put more pressure on opposing quarterbacks this season. "It will change the speed of the game for us," James said. "There will never be a lack of speed on the edge for us because we have so many guys who can go in and get the job done. We'll be able to pressure the passer this year and I think that will be the biggest difference from last year. It will really improve our line play and the play of our defense overall."
