Judd Zulgad, of the Star Tribune, reports Minnesota Vikings LB Rod Davis has been fined $5,000 for tackling his opponent using the "horse collar" technique during the Week 9 game.

Vikings | Smoot unlikely to play this week

Updating previous reports, Minnesota Vikings CB Fred Smoot (personal) is still in Mississippi and it is highly unlikely he will be back in time for the team's Week 10 game. Smoot is not expected to return from his half-brother's funeral until after the team meeting Saturday night, Nov. 11, at the earliest. If he doesn't play, CB Cedric Griffin would start in his place, with CB Ronyell Whitaker functioning as the team's nickel back.
