lets not get too down yet, cuz i havent read anything about what exactly is the injury.
has anyone?
Chad Hartman said a moment ago it was a fracture and he will be out 2-6 weeks.

*NM I see it was addressed above.
2-6 is awfully vague.
i mean whats the likihood 2 or 6?
that sucks going up against turner this week.
cuz i think atlantas only chance is to get him going, and i didnt think he would against us.

2-6 means that it is at least 2 weeks, maybe the rest of the season.

thanx captain obvious, what i'm saying is, usually they can give you a fair assessment of what the likilihood of one or the other is.
have we heard that?

KFAN.COM will have the interview on podcast soon. They say 2-6 weeks, because of a combo of things.
The more rest he gets, the faster it will heal
His age. The younger you are, the faster you heal.

He may be better in 2 weeks, and able to play with pain, but 6 to be fully healed.
The exact injury is a fractured scapula.

Pat Williams out 2-6 weeks

The word on Pat Williams is not good for the Vikings.

The Pro Bowl nose tackle has a broken right scapula. Coach Brad Childress said that means Williams will be out from two to six weeks...

No problem lieutenant not-so-obvious...

When is the last time that Childress has been upfront with how long someone is going to be sidelined with an injury.
I believe that Childress will keep this one close to his vest as well, so that whatever team will be visiting the Vikings first won't know who to prepare for.
We know he won't play for two weeks - we have no idea if he will be back for the playoffs or not.
And that is exactly all that Childress wants everyone to know.

It's certainly a blow... but this is where Roger 'SUSPENSION!' Goodell may have done us a favour.

In response to his idiocy, we were forced to prepare/plan for losing both the Williams. Now we've lost one, and have a backup who is unusually well prepared for the situation.

It's not going to be easy, but we've got the best chance given the circumstances.

First, I know that you need to take each week one game at a time.
Don't start looking past your next opponent.
That being said, Pat's injury makes these next two games very important for us.
If we win out and NYG or Carolina loses out, we will have a first round bye.
That could be huge for getting some much needed rest for some of our beat up players.

But we only have control over how we play.
Let's beat Atlanta next week.
And if Carolina or the Giants happen to lose too... well then it will get interesting.
