The Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission will make a last-gasp presentation Friday morning at the Capitol to get funding for a new stadium.

Re: Vikings: It's 4th down for stadium funding
It's just surprising and sickening that this can't somehow get done.
I mean look at the list below.
Timberwolves - Target Center
Twins - New stadium in 2010
Wild - Xcel Energy Center
Gophers - TCF Stadium in 2009
Vikings - The Teflon Bag know as Metrodome
I just wonder how all the other teams in this area were able to get deals done but not the Vikings.
I hope everyone just wakes up and does the right thing here.

Hurry up and get it done.
Make some Minnesota farmer rich and build it in his field so there is plenty of parking.

They had to build a new complex to get a hockey team back here after the state blew it by not keeping the North Stars here. They finally realized the amount of revenue they had lost after the team was gone & the old Met Center was torn down along with Metropolitan Stadium & the Thunderbird to make way for the MOA & Ikea. It's just surprising and sickening that this can't somehow get done.

Re: Vikings: It's 4th down for stadium funding
A deal is long overdue.
I'm sure that the new downtown design would reap financial rewards for the city.
Seems pretty short-sighted by the opposition.
Isn't there some HUGE company somewhere willing to shell out for the naming rights?
We've pretty much already lost out on any funding the NFL was willing to kick in.
How about "Haliburton Hall" or "The 3M Metro Complex".
"Cialis Stadium", where if the game goes over 4 hours "you should contact your physician".
It would give a whole new meaning to "Standing Ovation".I m Watching You- You may not see me, you may not hear me, but I m watching you...

This is exactly what is happening. With the 2007 Legislative session expected to end this weekend, the Vikings and the commission are realistically positioning themselves for next year.
I applaud Wilf's approach.
It is ahrd to generate excitement when you are coming off from a 6-10 season.
We will have a winning season this year, maybe even a playoff run.
Then we will see a strong stadium push.Zeus wrote:

What I don't understand is this; They've been (Vikings) working on getting a deal done for way over a year. Why is it they still do not have a sound financial plan?
