Vikings have a secret weapon in the passing attack?

    Hadn't seen this posted.

    It's from Fox Sports.

Shiancoe a sleeper? I doubt it
May 23, 2007 | 10:00AM | report this According to my radio co-host Solomon Wilcots, the Vikings have a secret weapon in the passing attack.

    His name is Visanthe Shiancoe.

Yep, the same Shiancoe who totaled 35 catches in 4 years with the Giants.

This same Shiancoe who the Vikings paid a boat load of cash to in the offseason.

Solomon told me to write down a minimum of 50 catches for Shiancoe.
And he predicted a plethora of touchdowns.
He called Shaincoe a fantasy sleeper.

Ok -- so we will write it down here.

I told Solomon I thought he was nuts.

But he said it in the same voice he used when he guaranteed Ted Ginn Jr would be a top 10 pick and Brady Quinn would not be.

And Sharper and Richardson say Shiancoe has been the talk of minicamp.

    We'll see …

think it was a good pickup, as long as he can catch

Sounds good but if we have to rely on him for the passing attack.
    We are in serious trouble.
Rice is our man and will prove it with at least 50 catches.
Williamson isn't (He needs a telescope in order to see the ball- Doesn't mean he will catch it after he sees it)

We already had a secret weapon in the passing attack... So secret that the Vikings themselves didn't even know about it... Wiggins... he was always sure handed. If nothing changes about the offensive scheme, I don't foresee any more production from Shiancoe.

    Shouldn't the title
of this thread end in a question mark? So far there is no evidence that he is a secret weapon.

35 catches in 4 years with a 7.2 yard average hardly constitutes a "secret weapon" in my book.

Hell, going by those standards, T-Will is a phenom with 37 catches & a 13.6 yard average last year alone.

I heard the same broadcast on Sirius ... I think Solomon is on the verge of being classified clinical.
I realize Eli was far from lighting it up with the G-men last year, but what makes Soloman so sure this guy is the second coming of Jerry Rice.
I'll believe it when I see it.

Not to take away from Wiggo's talent or to degrade your post, but my purple friend you really need to take a look at how he fit in the scheme.

Don't matter how well a TE can catch if he can't get to the seam anymore.

Look how long it took for him to accept the ONE offer he got in FA.
Basically Mike Tice giving him a bone is the only reason he landed someplace.

Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg

I personally am excited about this new tight end Shianco

We need a good blocker/catcher in that position for our running game

    Wiggy was a catcher
Jimmy is more of a blocker

Jimmy's hands were getting better, but still his strength is leveling someonoe.
I remember watching him play in college and dropping some super easy passes, and leveling the snot out of some guys.
    His hands have gotten better

I think they are calling him a sleeper because he hasnt had a chance to showcase what he MIGHT be able to do, whereas Williamson has had plenty of oppurtunities thus far to showcase what he cannot do.
