Vikings have reasons for staying patient at linebacker
The biggest need left as the Vikings maneuver through Week 2 of free agency while preparing for the draft is linebacker.
Beyond Chad Greenway, the Vikings have no proven starting-caliber players to fill the other two spots in a 4-3 scheme. But there are several factors that have kept the Vikings from scratching that itch...

ideally you build a team threw the draft ...draft them coach them up and when they are ready .they become starters...coaching staffs in the past lacked the abilitty to develope young talent ...hopefully we will have a lb step up bring his game to the next level ...
also coaches have to recongnize talent ....

What are the chances that the Vikings will draft 2 linebackers in the 1st and 2nd round?

I think that it is very likely we grab a linebacker in the first couple of rounds ... and certainly by our first pick in the third round ... but I don't think it is as huge a need as people think.
We have a lot of bodies. I think that we OBVIOUSLY could use a little help there, but drafting more than two would be excess.

Our LOLB ( i think Greenway plays ROLB) got about 17 snaps a game. more important that a 3rd LB is a 3rd CB. we should have 3 starting caliber cbs on a roster and 1 near starter for depth. We currently have 2, one of which is best suited for the slot.

I think we will draft a LB but unless it's a stud LB it won't be till at least the third round. I liked what I saw in Cole last year and I would like to see how Hodges and Mauti look this year. They brought Brinkley back which is not a big deal but maybe he will fit into what they will be doing. Cole and Mauti show good promise and yes Mauti's health is a concern.

My favorite player leading up to the draft is Mack, sadly it is looking more and more like he will not be there at 8. Watkins is another I would love to get, but again no way we have a shot at him at 8. Really do not like Bridgewater, worst pick we can make. Would rather go with Manziel. Not sold on Burr, but have to admit he has quite the wing span and may be a good option.

Playing against Rodgers, Stafford, & Cutler means we need to have guys that can cover... With our recent DLine work, if we can keep the ball in their hands for one more second there are a lot of sacks to be had... But that means we need another corner.

With the moves in free agency, seems to me we can't go wrong with that #8. Maybe "can't" is overstating. The QB they like falls, cool. Mack or Watkins fall, really cool. Gilbert or Dennard puts us at three solid corners. Barr is raw (two years on defense) but looks like a potential tight end covering machine whose strength is blitzing. Trading back a few spots (assuming someone wants #8...StL at 13 will likely be moving around) would be nice if nobody that's left stands out from the bunch. I think you could even make an argument for Evans or Ebron in that scenario.
