Vikings' future bright despite '06 season, Spielman says
Sid Hartman: Vikings' future bright despite '06 season, Spielman says
The Vikings ended the season with a 6-10 record, missed the playoffs and won only two of their last 10 games, beating the dismal Lions and Cardinals.

I know I won't be as optimistic going into next season as I was this season... We supposedly had all the pieces this season to have a winning season.. I will never again get excited about this team going into a season unless they prove otherwise..

You'll be watching all the offseason moves and reading the hype and you'll be sucked into the frenzy just like you have your whole life....and there's nothing you can do about it.Get your facts first, and then you can distort them as much as you please. Mark Twain

The thing is we looked good in preseason this year and the first few weeks weren't that bad either.
We won't know what will come of the 2007 season until it is over.
Look at how many teams are in the wild card race right now.

I never said I wasn't going to watch their moves in the offseason... If you read my statement, you will see that I said that I will never be optomistic about the Vikings going into a season until they prove otherwise..
I'm saying that I will never again say that they will win this amount of games, or that this player will be great, until they actually prove it to everyone.. They went out and got a handfull of "great" players that were supposed to make this a winning team again.. They didn't do that at all..
So yes, I will watch all of their offseason moves.. I will also not get excited like I have in years past about them.. I will simply wait until they start living up to their hype and actually win on a regular basis...

Re: Vikings' future bright despite '06 season, Spielman says
For many of us, the emotional roller-coaster ride this year, is still bearing its ugly head!
This team had more than its fair share of injuries, which clearly did not help our teams seasonal goals or the development of some of our new additions, to include some of our rookies.
Sure, we had some veteran players not reach the level of expectation we believed they would but others did.
For the most part, we saw a new coach (Child), make some serious mistakes which hurt our team.
We do have a good team with some serious needs!
Most of all, a procative offensive play caller and not a reactive play caller.
Get they play calling into someone elses hands (period).
