The group didn't compare to the star power of 2006's, but the team was able to fill some holes with the crop.

Brad Childress' dry sense of humor got the best of him.
In the midst of being asked about the Vikings' 2007 free-agent class and how it hadn't compared to the excitement that surrounded the previous year's group, Childress cracked an ever-so-slight smile and interjected: "It actually was a much groused-about class, wouldn't you say?"
Hard to argue with him.

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!

2008 Crop to me is looking kind of thin in positions we need, biggest names to me (Hamlin, Faneca, Briggs) seem to fall into positions that we have established.
Don't think Derek Anderson is going to be going anywhere.
Wouldn't mind them taking a stab at Moss (joking, although we could afford him), Devery Henderson, or Bryant Johnson.
Kind of do like building through the draft a little better though, nowadays it seems (obviously with us) rookies are able to step in and play at a high level.
I know, the season's not over yet, but being excited for the off-season also, isn't a crime.

Were you been hiding?

Couple of comments on this article.
a. It was a very nice read.
Actually depicted what the players were brought in for, compared thier numbers for this year against last years.
Well done.
b.
Finally, a news guy admits that this isn't all done by the Chiller.
Now all they have to do is get the other two key guys (Bryzcheapski/Studwell) mentioned as key contributors to the effort of rebuilding this team and we will be making progress with the guys as we know they are reading our stuff.
;D
But with Rick Spielman having replaced Fran Foley as vice president of player personnel and the Spielman/Childress duo placing an emphasis on the draft, the Vikings' approach to free agency clearly was different. Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.
