Vikings finish as top run defense

While the New York Giants ran the ball efficiently, the Vikings did just enough to lead the league in run defense for the third consecutive season.

By earning that distinctions, the Vikings are the first team to accomplish that feat since the NFL-AFL merger in 1970.

The Vikings can thank Chester Taylor's former teammate.

The Cleveland Browns were shut out 31-0 by the Pittsburgh Steelers. But Browns running back Jamal Lewis gained 94 of his team's 106 rushing yards. While the Vikings gave up 135 yards to the Giants, they gave up 54 fewer than the Steelers this season (1,284 for the year).

    I was asking myself this!

Big thanks. Did we actually allowed a 100 yard rusher this year?

Not from a single running back.

The Packers' Grant and the Bears' Forte came close.

Run D didn't look very good today my freinds, especially after our RDE playing LDE went down and our situational pass rushing RDE had to come in and play LDE in our base 4-3 sets......

Although I'm happy with our #1 ranking, I am more impressed with our Pass D's improvement this year.

And no, our run D didn't look very good today.

    I agree my freind.

Normally give up an average of just under 80 ypg and we gave up something like 130 or 140.
Pretty good to me to, however, I am probably drinking the same stuff as you are....... ;D
