Vikings depth chart

Vikings depth chart

This is the depth chart the team issued today in its media release for Friday’s game against St. Louis. This is considered unofficial but at least it’s a start...

Notes
- Sauce over Shiancoe at TE!
- Sauce at TE, Dugan at FB?
- I just realized we have no backup center. Birk better be healthy.
- Jackson over Bollinger!
- Udeze over Scott?
- Smith over Robison? When is James scheduled to be back?
- When did Leber switch numbers?
- Our top two WRs are returning kicks? I hate that.

Thanks Josdin!

I was also surprised to see Sauce over Shiancoe...I'm betting this will change.

I used to have a problem with us using our top WRs returning kicks... This year my tune has changed though.
We are plenty deep at WR with mediocore (at best) talent.
If we lose our "top" guy...we'll just replace him with another lackluster performer.
No big loss.

I dont like seeing Wade returning kicks or punts.
Damn near all of his fumbles came on returns...

The main thing I remembered about him ,when we aquired him, was how he fumbled on kick returns against us when he played for the bears.
I don't have a problem trying him out in preseason as a return man. He has matured and hopefully improved with time.

I know, but he has a pretty strong history of fumbling on returns.
Even in Tennessee, he fumbled the first year.
Then they took him off from the return team, and his fumbles disappeared.

Running with most of the team behind you, and being tackled from the side or behind is a lot different than being tackled head on by the oncoming team.
I don't want to see him return anything.

We can't take any chances in losing the ball on a return.
At least in the first half of the year, our offense won't exactly be putting up mad points.
That means that we may have to win some (most) games with our defense.
Giving the opposing team amazing field position isn't going to help any.

I am a Childress fan, and I am fairly optimistic for Wade in the WR role.
But if I see Wade returning any punts or kicks in the regular season, Childress will have earned a strike in my book.

I would be very surprised to see him there for long. I don't want them putting Memo there in preseason. We need Memo healthy for punt return duties and more.
As CT and AD had injuries Memo's spot on the roster appeared
quite solid. In addition he has a new baby and has had a very solid training camp.
So I would like to see one of the younger guys back to return kickoffs but they are a little banged up now.

Scott got most of the reps with the first time defense today
