Thread: Vikings Defense

I know its only 2 games into the season but I wanted to see where our Defense Ranked. Our Defense Ranks 7 in the NFL for Yards given up and 11 with Points given up.

That looks pretty good considering the fact that our organization has averaged to be in the late 20s year in and year out.

I just want our boys to keep playin how they are and get better and better =)

BTW I been trying to look for an authentic Sharper Jersey on eBay. They still dont have the Vikings new jersey on there for any player which is authentic.. that stinks!

I wish I had seen the game last Sunday instead of having to watch it on that NFL.Com diagram version. For one thing I never got the impression that the Defense played more than an adequate game. Which was wrong apparently. When a pass is incomplete you never know why. You don't know if the QB swas rushed or the receivers were all covered etc. Anyway I am left with the impression that our defence is good, but still a bit raw and not a steady imposing presence like a few of the elite defences in the league. Watching last night's game, Pitt/Jackson, had me in awe of the two defences. With the Jacksonville crew being a non-stop monster. In the fourth quarter they destroyed the Steelers.
I would sure like to see our guys put in a performance like that, but I think that's a ways down the road yet. We will get a good indication of their progress next Sunday. As usual, I'm nervous.

Speaking of that NFL.Com live game diagram box, there are funny glitches that occur. Like you can go for a long time with no change and then all of a sudden 5 consecutive plays come up all at once. The strangest thing last Sunday was when the Vikings got the ball for the first time in the second half they had Longwell throwing the passes. I figured, what the hell, has Brad been injured and the coach went with Longwell because of his completion on that fake FG? Longwell complete two straight passes. They even had his name in the stats with 3/3 completions. I figured that Chills was even more of a coaching genius than I expected. Then magically Johnson turned up at QB again and he was credited with Longwell's imaginary completions.

It was entertaining.

We were 11th in the NFL and 7th in the NFC after the Skins game so we have moved up.

The most important stat (IMHO) for the gauging the effectiveness of Defense is scoring.
In that, we are sitting at #11 after two games.
