Vikings DBs getting picked on

Vikings see need to be more alert for air raids

The Patriots and Packers exploited Minnesota's pass defense. More teams likely will try, which means there's work to be done.

This is where we could have really used Edwards, our Nickel and Dime backs would have been extremely solid if Edwards were healthy. Plus who knows Edwards might have picked off Favre again.

Tomlin should be helped by the return of cornerback Fred Smoot, who missed Sunday's game because of a family tragedy. With Smoot back, rookie cornerback Cedric Griffin can resume his role of primarily playing in the nickel defense and Ronyell Whitaker is likely to return to the bench.
This will upgrade the nickle package, but the normal two zone package is what we are getting burned on.
Both Brady and Fav-re found success dumping the ball in the middle of the field in back of the MLB.
On the long plays, like when Driver scored, it was a safety that was at fault (although the LB could have prevented it too).
While I am glad that Smoot will be back, I don't think it is going to help our passing D out that much.

I would actually like to see a lot more blitzes.
The Maimi OL is not that good, and we should be able to get to Joey enough to keep him off balance.
Anytime we give a QB 10+ seconds untouched he will be able to find an open reciever.

This something we should have been doing last week, hopefully we won't make that same mistake again. If we can't rattle Harrington then something is seriously wrong.

There is a reason that Whitaker sat the pine in Tampa for 2 years after playing in only 4 games his rookie season...he's simply not very good.

Sure, he's probably better than I am...but not by much...and I'm 13 years older and 50 pounds heavier.

This guy has cost us two games already.
in fact, virtually every long TD that we've given up has been his.

For that, he wins the "Troy Williamson Award" as the single biggest underachiever on the Defense.
Congratulations, Ronyell...we hope you're not here next season.
