    Vikings DB's

Was perusing CBS sportsline and found this (may be old, i dont checkout CBS regularly).

    http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/player...gularseason/DB

I think that it us utterly meaningless (like most rankings are), but it is nevertheless fun and interesteing to see that the 4 likely starting DB for the vikes are all top in the 12 as follows:

    1. Greg Wesley, KC
    2. Jerome Woods, KC
    3. Brian Williams, MIN
    4. Antoine Winfield, BUF
    5. Corey Chavous, MIN
    6. Mike Minter, CAR
    7. Fred Thomas, NO
    8. Rodney Harrison, NE
    9. Aeneas Williams, STL
    10. Matt Bowen, WAS
    11. Ronde Barber, TB
    12. Brian Russell, MIN

BTW, A GB player doesnt show until 33 at Darren Sharper

    Vikings DB's

I don't understand these rankings, are these supposed to be the best DBs in the league? WTF where is Woodson, Bailey, McCalister, Roy Williams, Surtain etc.?

    Worst Rankings everrrr!

How can the 2 top DBs be on KC, the worst Defense in the league?

I think that it is based only on stats, and since Min and Kc got a ton of INTs last year they are there. I guess that shows us how much stats count when Champ Bailey is #28.

The ranking are based the final statistics from the 2003 season. Sportsline says that they use a variety of statistics to come up with their player ratings, but they don't show the formula they use. They're not supposed to be the best in the league, just the best of 2003.

Well, stats can't count the number of times that the QB threw the ball to someone else because Champ was covering the reciever too tightly.

Like i said, the rankings are meaningless. Im sure that they are skewed towards defenses that have many passes thown against them which will tend to increase the number of tackles and interceptions.
