Vikings safety Dwight Smith has been trying to play for five weeks on a bum hamstring, but it might have caught up to him Thursday....

The majority of the Vikings’ games this season have been seen by only a small part of the country. That won’t be the case Sunday when the Vikings visit the 5-1 Cowboys....

Not exactly a pre-game article....but, I didn't feel like starting a new thread for this overkilled topic.

    Vikes Pass Defense Still Reeks

...Just think about that. After waiting for weeks for the Vikings offense to show any signs of life, the Vikings defense couldn't hold on to a 31-17 lead with just three minutes to play. Not only couldn't they hold onto the lead, but they actually gave it up in only a minute and a half, thankfully they were inept enough that the Vikings had time to rally and kick the game-winning field goal.

It took Chicago only five plays to tie the score. You'll hear criticism of teams playing a prevent defense, but in this case, Minnesota stuck with its base pass defenses, only to find that its defensive backs weren't up to what was a pretty easy job...

The Vikings are about to test the old saying that there's safety in numbers......

With starting safety Dwight Smith out of Sunday's game at Dallas, the Vikings hope veterans Tank Williams and Mike Doss can step up against the Cowboys' second-ranked offense.

The run gained only 2 yards, but Marion Barber's third-quarter play last Sunday against New England prompted Patriots coach Bill Belichick to seek out the Dallas Cowboys' No. 2 running back after the game......

The look of frustration on Darren Sharper's face made the point better than any words. Nonetheless, Sharper attempted to convey his feelings on being part of the NFL's worst-ranked pass defense.........

Meanwhile, in the Pee Wee Confer ... I mean the NFC, the Cowboys will try to become the first 6-1 team. They'll have to stop Adrian Peterson, who I thought was really, really good, only to find out he's actually a combination of Eric Dickerson, Gale Sayers, Earl Campbell, Marshall Faulk, Emmitt Smith, the Road Runner, Stretch Armstrong, the Incredible Hulk and GI Joe with the Kung Fu Grip....
