Vikings - Cowboys pre-game articles

Mark Craig: Whatever 'it' is, Cowboys' Romo has it

The Cowboys quarterback doesn't dazzle anyone with a cannon arm or fancy footwork, but opponents are impressed when he finds a way to win.

When it comes to NFL matchups, Vikings running back Adrian Peterson vs. the Chicago Bears run defense wasn't all that difficult to figure out. And neither is this week's key matchup: Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo vs. the Vikings pass defense ... or lack thereof.....

Peterson to play in Texas next week

The Palestine Herald

By SCOTT TYLER
H-P Sports Editor

Adrian Peterson grew up watching and rooting for the Dallas Cowboys.

While Peterson cheered for the likes of Emmitt Smith, Troy Aikman and Michael Irvin, the Palestine High School graduate dreamed of one day playing on the hallow grounds of Texas Stadium....

Cowboys-Vikings: A look ahead

Why the Cowboys win

Dallas takes advantage of the NFL's worst pass defense in Minnesota. Tony Romo, who has played well after losses, finds Patrick Crayton and Terrell Owens for big pass plays. Expect Romo to throw three touchdowns and the Cowboys' running game to get going despite facing one of the best run defenses in the NFL. Adrian Peterson is all the Vikings have offensively, and the Cowboys will let him get some big gains. But Dallas should slow down the Vikings' passing attack.

Why the Cowboys lose

There is a big letdown following the loss to the Patriots. Minnesota quarterback Tarvaris Jackson, who has completed only 49.4 percent of his passes, gets to the 60 percent range. Dallas' pressure defense is halted by the Vikings' big offensive line, giving Jackson time to complete passes and helping to open running lanes for Peterson.

Cornerback Jacques Reeves struggles in coverage and is beaten for some long touchdowns.

I heard that Adrian Peterson is going to be at the Home Depot in Plymouth today but I have not been able to find anything online to confirm it. If anyone knows anything let me know.

Man to beat the cowpoke's we've got to be playing our best. Pressure everytime o-no Romo goes back to throw, and our coverage must step up. On offense we have to run, run, play action, and convert third down's to keep dallas's O off the field.

all very good reads, we just need to be on are A game, and if tjack can make plays we will have a great shot at winning, cuz all dallas is gonna try to do is stack the box and stop peterson.

Yean Tide, I feel like we're going to have to play an almost perfect game. There are my keys to a win. Some might be obvious.

1. Get Romo uncomfortable. This means blitzing, disguising coverages/fake blitz, stunts.

2. Ball control. The longer our offense is on, the less of theirs. Slow the game down.

3. Attack Roy Williams. Seriously, I think Roy Williams might be the second worst starting safety in terms of coverage (the first being Archuleta, who just got benched). For one, he's slow (run Troy deep if he's 1 on 1), and he's overly aggressive (play action!).

4. Attack Demarcus Ware. The guys as talented as they come. We should run it straight at him to neglect his athleticism.

5. Pass protection. This is the first 3-4 defense we're going to play this year. Tarvaris most likely will be confused so the line needs to hold up bigtime!

Agree?
Because I'm a Vikings fan, they are that much sexier.

Yup.
OLine needs another good game, and they'll probably need some help, cuz I expect Dallas to blitz us a ton.
Run the ball!!
Eat the clock!
And connect on more of those deep throws...

I just heard one of those NFL Network guys call this game, "Must see TV."
Man, are they hyping Adrian Peterson!!
;D

I hear Mike Florio from pft.com on the PA and Dubay show this morning.
He said he has a gut feeling the Vikings will win this game because of the Cowboys arrogance after their loss to the Pats.
He thinks the Cowboys feel they will be able to walk all over us with out even trying.
