    Bingo........Another poster with a clue.

Asante stayed down, Rice got up. Asante eventually got back into the game, Rice, well, he quickly put his little jacket on.

I'm so over this cat. Starting to look at WR's that will be available in the draft today after this.

Now that I think about it. If we have a young QB (Webb/Rookie) we probably want to have some experience at the WR position. Percy is probably sufficient in the slot but we don't have a big go to guy like Rice.

I wonder what Vincent Jacksons status is?
I can understand what you are trying to say here but the fact is it takes a medical professional to declare whether or not someone has a concussion. This isn't something his agent can just come up with.

Rice sustained a concussion. Per LEAGUE rules he has to be evaluated and cleared to play next week. If, in fact, he is not cleared Rice won't play regardless of what he or his agent says. In the event he is cleared and the Vikings keep him out then you can try to pass this off as true.
    Excellent post, great point EJ.

Re: Vikings confirm WR Rice sustained concussion

I really hope we keep Rice ... but I hope he moves past all these nagging injuries also.

It is clear when he is on the field that he is a very good talent and offers a lot, and he and Percy together are very deadly and tough to cover.

I also LOVE Vincent Jackson and think the Chargers have been completely looney to not get him locked up long term.

I doubt there is a logical scenario where we end up with Jackson, Rice and Percy (as Cox proposed earlier) but if we did, we would definitely have all the weapons to help a young QB along the way.

I would also expect our offense to revert a little more back to the pound the rock, no matter who our coach is. In that case, Jackson, Rice and Harvin would become almost unguardable because defenses would have to stack for Peterson.

Dare to dream ... I think Jackson is a long shot. But I do think we will find a way to keep Rice and Greenway around.

Some of these posts make me sick. I am glad ejmat has a clue. There was no reason to rush Rice back on the field and potentially lose him for next year too. We did not need a win.

Re: Vikings confirm WR Rice sustained concussion

Who's said anything about rushing Rice back onto the field and causing further injury?? What I was implying is that his agent will do all that he can to keep his client off the field in order to ensure he doesn't pick up another injury in a meaningless game.
I could see Rice being cleared to play but then developing another 'injury' which stopped him playing Sunday.

I'll be sure in future to put in a full and detailed explanation on some posts if there's a chance that those reading will have difficulty understanding my accent :P

I'm 100% convinced Rice (not gonna use El Syd anymore) scheduled his surgery to minimize how many games he had to play so as not to risk further injury because the Vikings didn't give him a long term deal.
Were you wearing a tinfoil hat, sexting to VikingsTW and watching a Kevin Trudeau infomercial when you reached that conclusion?

Now I see this. Truth of the matter is, I can name several players right now that are on the team that I blame for the shitty season we had. Watch my posts over the offseason. It won't be hard to figure out who they are.
    -Sullivan
    -Loadholt
    -The complete secondary minus Winfield
    -The DE's
-The backup QB who finally gets his shot and then goes down in flames in less than a half LMAO

Right or wrong, he's on my shit list and won't ever get off of it, even if he stays a Viking and becomes a HOF'r.
Yeah, that really says it all for your ability to be objective and open minded.

Re: Vikings confirm WR Rice sustained concussion

I understand that concussions and other injuries are serious, but count me as one who believes some of this is getting out of hand. Be it the NFL, MLB, or NBA, there are just too many Minnesota players getting paid big bucks over the past decade to sit on the bench, sideline, or dugout in street clothes.

With so many concussions, the NFL should try to get improved helmets. That is certain.

Time for Bolts to do something positive: Sign V.J.

6'5", 230 pounds, 6 year Vet. 2007 he had his lowest yards per catch average of 15.2. He had a career-high in receptions (68), yards (1,167) and touchdowns (nine) in 2009.

Normally I would balk at signing a cat like this to a big contract, mostly cause of the DUI stuff, but the success the team has had with JA makes me almost ignore that.

They are going to have to commit money in this area to someone. Why not someone like Jackson instead of Rice?

I think the risk between the two is DUI (Jackson) vs Health (Rice). Structure Jacksons contract like you did JA's and let Rice go.
    Why not both?
Cut BB, Sign Jackson and give Rice a similar contact to BB's( which was quite lucrative). We should have apple wiggle room with almost 30 million off the books(Farve + Phat Pat). LBs salaries are cheap compared to other position. So a top flight LB like Greenway should be had for 4-5 million a season.
How much is on BB's contract? Correct me if I'm wrong but ole Bryzcheapski was front loading alot of contracts when deals like BB's was being done.

On a side note, Z, what is the url you always provide at this point in time for what each team is paying players?

I hear ya and agree, but if you go back and watch the hit, Asante was out. Rice jumped up and was on the sideline with his helmet off talking to teamates.

One would think, based on those to indicators, that Asante wouldn't have come back out onto the field and Rice would have.

Again, I might have just a bit of a axe to grind with this kid, but I think I am allowed, seeings how I have been one of his biggest supporters on this site.

Good stuff (again) Midg. I see you brought your "A" game today.

Quick question......Of the two, which would you rather have? Rice or Jackson?

I would opt for Jackson, mostly because of Rice's injury woes. Cat hasn't had a full year yet. Last year, was his "Most on field time" and even then he missed 2 games.

Rice is 6'4" 202lbs. Jackson is 6'5", 230 pounds. Maybe the right answer is to go after them both. Move Rice out to the X were he won't get as much of a beating as he does in the Z and let the bigger/tougher guy (Jackons) fill that role.

Gets back to my biggest concern going into the offseason......How much will the Wilfs spend?

At initial glance, yes. However head injuries are funny like that. Some are felt immediately more than others. Then others take a while to have the affect.
