Could the area still be the site of a Vikings stadium? Public officials there are saying that it's possible -- but only on the county's terms.

    Wait a minute?
I thought you said that that was dead?

And then didn't I say something like "I don't believe anything will be dead until ground is broken"?

    Hunh!
    How about that!

LYAO at what? The Blaine deal is dead.......

Blaine wants no part of any stadium talk, said Mayor Tom Ryan. "We've totally washed it out, just lost interest," he said. "People ask me about the Vikings and I tell them it's 100 percent 'no.' "
What part of that don't you understand?

    Re: Vikings chase Stadium dream

I am posting this only because this is what happens when the Vikes get to the end of their contract with the dome.
When the team gets to the end of a contract, they hold more cards in their hand.
So many cities, that don't have NFL that would like to have it want to court them.
It is best to get something worked out well in advance so the team doesn't start entertaining other offers.

Apparently, the Penguins facility is a dump, and the HHH Dome is what the Vikes would call a dump (financially).

Kansas City Business Journal - 5:27 PM CST Monday, March 5, 2007

The Pittsburgh Penguins notified the National Hockey League on Monday that talks for a new arena have deadlocked, which may help free the team for a move to Sprint Center in Kansas City.

Penguins owners Mario Lemieux and Ron Burkle declared negotiations at an impasse in a letter to Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, Allegheny County Chief Executive Dan Onorato and Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl.
