What we thought then, what we know now.
That's EXTREMELY unfair to Chris Kluwe.Quote:
What we thought then: The Vikings had an elite kicking duo with Ryan Longwell and Chris Kluwe. Kluwe offered encouragement that he'd recovered from his knee surgery, and Longwell provided a steady presence for clutch field goals.
What we know now: Longwell has hit the clutch ones, although he has not been money from long range. But Kluwe is one of the worst punters, statistically, in the NFL. Last year, before his season-ending knee injury, Kluwe was at or near the top in all categories. Not booming them nearly as often as he did last year, when he had 15 punts of 50 or more yards.
He's doing exactly what the coaches want, which is the directional kicking.
Yesterday, I though Kluwe did great keeping Woodson pinned on one sideline or the other.
The Packers punter (whoever that is) put at least 3 into the end zone for touchbacks.
I don't recall Kluwe having one.

yep, that column is pretty much right on target.
our kicking is decent though.
