Thanks for the read my friend.
Going into this year, I sure the hell didn't.does anyone really think Brett freaking Favre is only going to throw six interceptions?
Will he only throw 6?
Probably not, but because our WR's seem to catch anything that is close to them and the old gunslinger hasn't emerged, it probably won't be much more than that.
The difference between the Vikes and Jets.....Again, do I think the Vikings will collapse in the second half? It's a stretch. They have very winnable games against the Lions, Seahawks and Panthers, and they should draw at least a split against the Bears, if not sweep them.
But I also didn't think that the Jets would implode last year with only five games remaining. And we all know how that turned out.
1.
Our backup(s).
TJ has shown he can come off the bench and win.
2.
Our HC. He fired a guy the day before Christmas and fined a guy when on bereavement leave.
He WILL sit a QB if he can't go.
3.
Our QB. Still not clear on what was said with the Jets but it appears to me that he told them he was hurt and maybe he was hurting the team. Additionally, he told TJ to get ready as he felt that he might not be able to go for the GB game.
Shows to me that he will definately let them know if he is gonna hurt the team.
Way to much at stake here to think otherwise.

Re: Vikings Beware
I actually don't think the article was as bad as the premise here.
At least the guy recognizes that the team is not the same quality as the Jets of last year away from the QB spot.
But the comparison is just flawed.
The Jets were 8-3 after beating the Titans last year, but the Pats were 7-4 and the Dolphins were 6-5, both with basically all winnable games on their schedule.
The AFC in general had a lot of teams with good records last year - the 11-5 Pats didn't even get into the playoffs.
Sure it was a collapse, but it was hardly a collapse of epic proportions.
There were other good teams right there with the Jets.
I think we're all familiar with the Vikes situation.
But lets assume something happened to Favre tomorrow.
Say he retired.
Couldn't the Vikes still win 4 to 6 games with Tarvaris?
It's hard to imagine the team not making the playoffs in the NFC with any record around those numbers.
Here's a site that keeps track of playoff odds (link).
It's based off of current records, a statistical based measure of each teams' quality, and then thousands of simulations of the remaining schedule.
It's not perfect, but my guess is that it gives a decent approximation of the odds.
Right now it has the Vikes as 99.5% for making the playoffs and 97.8% for winning the division.
It would have to be an epic collapse, and I just don't think it's going to happen. When the age of the Vikings came to a close, they must have sensed it. Probably, they gathered together one evening, slapped each other on the back and said, "Hey, good job." - Jack Handey [Deep Thoughts]

Re: Vikings Beware
Interesting read.
But, I think it's kinda pointless.
Telling us Viking fans to beware of a potential collapse by our team.
The writer needs to realize who his audience is.
lol
We are Vikings fans.
Shoot, it takes us a day before the first playoff game to pinch ourselves and realize that, 'Hey..
we actually ARE in the playoffs this year!' and start filling the stadium.
Redundant article, if you ask me.Vegans are eating the rainforests. =(

Re: Vikings Beware
No nothing is guaranteed, but is it really worthy of making an article based on it?and the Jets crashed. What's to say that the 7-1 Vikings won't do the same? Nothing is guaranteed in NFL.
Especially when there is absolutely no indication at this point that the Vikings will fall apart.

Read it again.
It says Vikings.
Not Vikings fans.

Re: Vikings Beware
Anyone else remember who missed the playoffs last year?
The 11-5 New England Patriots. So even if the Jets went 3-2 the last 5 games them may have still missed the playoffs.
Would they be blaming that on Favre as well?
Brett has shown a history of bad stats after 300 attempts over the past 5 years, now, will that continue?
We will find out after the after the Seattle game.

As much attention as Favre is getting for us I think it really irks some people and I think we have a lot of media types (see: Adam Schein) rooting against us.
I think it's part of the reason so many people are coronating the Saints in the NFC.
If you want to crown them, crown them.
