Vikings’ behavior just might not matter - Is the Metrodome all that awful?

DeLand column: Vikings’ behavior just might not matter

Minnesota Vikings player (well, a recent one, anyway) got arrested the other day, which on the scale of surprising headlines ranks right up there with “Sun Rises In East.”....

...It looks increasingly likely that a publicly funded football stadium simply isn’t going to happen — certainly not in Minnesota, maybe not anywhere.....

I wanted to address a point the article made. Does Vikings players getting in trouble change your opinion about getting a new stadium? In my eyes it does not but I guess I can see how some would.

Nope, generally speaking there has been more accountability recently.... those who have screwed up have been let loose with the exception of McKinnie....

Scott isnt a Viking, and they are going to wait to see how the courts deal with mckinnie... I dont really think that something like that determines the stadium deal, Winning and showing a commitment to build a greater team will do that IMO, and we've done pretty well on the latter

compared to other teams around the league, we are one of the most accountable.
(at least since the new ownership)

if people want the vikings to stay in minnesota things like this shouldnt stop the stadium drive.
i agree that it comes down to what the product on the field is like.
we need to sell out all home games, and ap needs to stay healthy to make that continue to happen.
wilf has shown he will do what it takes to get the players we need, now its up to the chiller to coach em up.
win and everything will fall into place.
I put a sig on here before, but it expired?
Now i have tried again but seem to be retarded.......oh well,

Floop the bears!

I don't understand the complete crap that people are ok swallowing. I think most people are comeplete sheep. Winning cure all. If we were to win 2 superbowls in the next 3 years, we will have a stadium. Player behavior means nothing. As long as you're winning, no one cares. Rodney Harrison was caught with HGH last year...Anyone remember that? What about Brady's bastard child?
If the Vikings want a stadium, they have to turn the corner and become an elite team. That's the bottom line.

False. Money is the bottom line. The Cardinals just got a new stadium, and they have been terrible for as long as I can remember. Its always about the money.

MN better get its act together on the stadium or they are not going to have an NFL team anymore.

A player gets in trouble...we are not going to build a stadium.
We haven't won a super bowl.. we are not going to build a stadium.
The economy sucks..we are not going to build a stadium.
Gas prices are too high..we are not going to build a stadium.
I broke a nail this morning..we are not going to build a stadium....... :

Pretty soon it will be...we don't have an NFL team..no need to build a stadium.

Re: Vikings’ behavior just might not matter

Yes.
Because building a new football stadium (if you haven't seen anything on it, look here) is going to hurt Minnesota's economy...
Riiiiiight.

Has anyone ever been to downtown St. Paul?
You know, where the Xcel and RiverCentre are?
Is that such a horrible economic/commercial area?
Wait.
It's VERY attractive.

A new stadium, especially the one proposed, will bring new jobs.
Will clean up the east side.
And will able to be used as a multi-event facility.
Not to mention bring more COMMERCE to local restaurants/pubs/bars.
You know, commerce that will help the 'recession' and the economy.

I'm all for a new stadium.
And I'll be willing to pay extra taxes.
At least with these tax dollars, I'll be able to ENJOY what they went for, versus the Guthrie Theater or the new Minneapolis Public Library, neither of which I've been to.
Vegans are eating the rainforests. =(
