    Re: Vikings, Bears rivalry

i hate them both equally..where i live you are either a pack fan or a bears fan...i would say like only 5-10% of the peeps here like the vikes...the packer fans expect to win and when they dont, you give you the very clever vikes are chokers come back...and the bears have sucked so long they never think theyll win so when they do they really let you hear it...welcome to life in the quad cities...gah...

    peace...

to clarify what I said earlier:

Greenbay is a good rival, probably a really nice town with nice people.
    &
Chicago, the city & all its people just suck.

    One more thing.

NFL Primetime has been playing "International Statement" exclusively for the Bears, at least for the last two weeks.

Meanwhile, the Vikings get some weak theme song.

And the Bills, probably Boomer's favorite team, always get the brilliant "Powersurge," even though the Bills are doormats this year.

This is obviosuly their typical bias toward their favorite teams, and big market teams.

(As much as I do hate the Bears, I still have a lot of respect for Mike Ditka. He was a great player and a great coach, and now he is, admit it, a great commentator. )

    Da Bears . . . . suck!

    (obscure references off)
Nah Boomers a chargers fan not a bill fan. He always squeezes sinething in bout the chargers in primetime, like when he said look at this jersey, isnt it the best jersey? (it was chagers baby blue jersey)

Nahh the Packer will be back they will run and Hire Wolf again to rebuild the team. They have a LOT of money tied up in the new revocations on the statduim the money needs keep coming in. Then again these are Packer fans they will come regardless of the team.

I think it would take a ling time of getting upset by the Bears to replace the Pack rivalry. The Pack rivalry has a lot to do with Wisc bordering MN too.
i have a hard time imagining how a vikings-bears rivalry could eclipse a vikings-packers rivalry too. There's the immediate territorial issue that ultra refers to, but I also think the bears dont have the stupid human tricks for us to hate like the packers do. The bears lack things like cheese heads, Lambeau leaps, Farve magic, and sheep shagging. And so they just don't seem as rotten in comparison.

I'm not saying this couldn't change, but it would take a new generation of vikes fans to be socialized into an anti-bears mentality above all others for the Vikes-Packers rivalry to lose its premiere status.

I still think the bears are overacheiving and are poised to be a one and done in the playoffs, and a one year wonder.
