There have been four teams that lost the Championship Game one season and went on to win the Super Bowl the next season. Again, not a large amount, but a decent number (20% of the last 20 years).
Wouldn't that be 10% of teams that lost the conferance championship game won the superbowl the following season?

In essence, discarding all other factors, this would be the Vikings chance of winning the superbowl in 2010. 10%. Better than most but hardly a slam dunk.[/quote]

Well I was saying 20% of the last 20 Super Bowl winners were Championship Game losers the previous year.

By default ... there are only 20 teams that could do it, because BOTH losers from the previous year cannot win the Super Bowl. So, at best, only 50% of Championship Game losers can win the Super Bowl the following year.

I think what you meant to say is:

    Favre-led Packers 13-3
    Non-Favre-led Packers 6-10
    LOL, well played.

One of the major flaws of this site: Someone posts faulty information, someone else posts the correct information, the person with the faulty information does not read it, still claims his faulty information is correct, and others don't read it either and come to the rescue.

LMAO. Probably the best summary I have ever read regarding most of the discussions here.

And congrats on the 5000th post BTW.
Nope one of the flaws on this site is that we only try to find fault with things.

My bad for missing these. I apologize. Whip me with sticks and make me write bad checks.

The fact is ... in the last 20 years, there have been 10 teams that have lost in a Championship Game and returned to it the next season. That is not a large amount, but it is definitely not a small amount. (25% of Championship Game losers return the next season).
The fact is, I shouldn't have put in my observations and just stuck with the win loss records, as I started out to do, then we wouldn't have gone down this tangent.

And OF COURSE alot of the teams have a worse record the next season. Most teams getting to Championship games are putting up 12-4, 13-3 or better seasons ... dropping to 11-5 is hardly a huge deal
No one said it was a huge deal. What someone said, actually aluded to, was that the predominance of loosing teams in thier respective championship game had a worse record the next year as a means to gauge what the Vikings record might be this year.

Again, my apologies for missing a few teams that went to the championship game. That error sure derailed what should have been a damn interesting thread.

You are correct, sir...and I was wrong. Marr did miss the Cowboys, Steelers (2x), and the Pats. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt, however, on the Packers, since I would also leave them out just out of spite. LOL

I guess I'll have to remember to NOT post in response to something in the wee hours of the morning, when my eyes are starting to cross.
You'll be fine. Just don't try to pull anything out of your ass cause someone will check and then point it out.

PPO is a tough crowd when it comes to details.

    Bottom Line

Green Bay is rock solid on both sides of the ball, with stars in all the right places. If everyone stays healthy, this team is the Super Bowl favorite in the N.F.C.

    Prediction: 1st N.F.C. North

Clay Matthews.........Marrdro Shudders.......... The new PUKER I despise the most. That cat can play now.

That defense is gonna be something to be reconned with, however, still think you guys will have problems with your OL....Baluga was a nice addition, but BOTH Tauscher and Clifton should have been replace IMHO.

    We had a family tragedy.

Our son passed away. He was 20.

    Drugs.

It has taken a few months to settle down to some semblance of normalcy, not that we will ever have that again...
