Vikings 2008 vs 1993 sack attack
How will the sack attack of the 2008 DL compare to, IMO, the last great DL of the Vikes, 1993:
Doleman
12.5
Randle
12.5
Henry
9.0
Barker
6.0
Total:
40 sacks from the DL starters alone
Which is better than 25 whole team totals last year.... I didn't bother to look up the total for the starters... too lazy

Re: Vikings 2008 vs 1993 sack attack
If the D-line gets 40 sacks this year I think the 2008 squad will probably have the best defense in the NFL and the best Viking D ever. They could be scary good if that happens.

KW

2
Edwards 5 / Robinson 4.5
Total 19.5.... not even half of 1993
Not counting anyone else but the starting DL

Go look up the sack totals of 1988.
Doleman/ Millard were darn near unblockable.
I think
Doleman had like 20 and millard had 18.5. That is almost 40 between the right side.
Yet, the Purple people eaters were better then even that, they didn't start recording sacks offically until 1982 I beleive.

Re: Vikings 2008 vs 1993 sack attack
1989 was the measuring stick for our defense in terms of sacks. The team had a total of 71 sacks and the following were some of the individual efforts:
Doleman- 21
millard- 18
Noga- 11.5
Thomas-9
(That equals 59.5 for the d-line)
Merriweather-3.5
Studwell-1
Berry-3
Clarke-2.5
Browner-1
Strauthers-1
that was a defense built on extreme pressure. The thing that held the team back was the offense and Burnsies WCO style. I hope to got history doesn't repeat itself

Unfortunately I was in Germany in 89 and didn't see a single game, didn't see a box score, only knew who won and lost.
Al Gore hadn't invented the World Wide Web yet.

I said the "last great DL".
Is there a DL since '93 that you would consider better than '93?
