The only problem with ranking the NFL's 32 fan bases -- other than the sheer insanity of the exercise -- is that someone must finish last. But let's not focus on the Cardinals right now.

The idea to rank the 32 fan bases was hatched by our Committee on Rankings in Bristol, Conn. With the steadfast belief that everything in sports should be quantified on at least a twice-weekly basis, we were off and running.

A team of eight esteemed bloggers was asked to rank fans over the past five seasons using scientific criteria such as "Tailgate factor" and "How well do they travel?" [/quote]

In case you don't want to read it, Vikings fans rate 19th and Green Bay fans rate 2nd.

Seems they completely left out a huge part about being good fans, and thats showing class.

Steelers and Eagles fans are no-brainers as top-five selections, but they seem to come at things from a much different perspective. The Steelers have had so much success over the years that fans can live through a 6-10 season without doing anything to harm themselves or others. In that respect, they take their cue from the Rooney family. I've heard Pittsburgh referred to as a "big little town," which is not something you'd say about Philadelphia. Eagles fans are just as loyal as Steelers fans, but they have a different way of showing it.

Cheifs, Eagles, Raiders and Steelers are all top 10, but I dare any of you to go visit their stadium and wear an away jersey.

Those are some of the worst fans in sports, especially the eagles and raiders.

Its no that that makes the list terrible.
Biases aside, i think the Packers are an alright fan base.
You can go there wearing a vikings jersey and come out relatively unscathed.
They are a loyal bunch, and will stick with their team regardless (untill they trade away Favre, but thats another story)
Sure they're annoying as hell sometimes (not all of them) but they're like dragonflies,
Always there and annoying, but harmless.
Raiders, Steelers and especially Eagles fans are terrible.
You can't go into their stadium wearing an away jersey, and expect to come away unscathed.
you retaliate, and guess what?
you go to jail, because the cops are raiders, steelers and eagles fans too.
