No, it's a fan's right to complain."ultravikingfan" wrote:
The fact that "it's been like that way for a long time now" doesn't excuse it or give it any sort of justification. Why?
Because it's been that way for a long time now.
I would bet that a lot of other teams sites are the same ways.
People sometimes complain because they are compassionate for their team and there is nothing wrong with that.
If they did not care, they would not complain.
I do acknowledge your point that if they didn't care, they wouldn't complain, but it's almost getting to the point where we aren't getting anything in return.
Or we aren't trying to find anything in return.
It has turned into a hate-fest.
I agree that people do sometimes complain about their team and that there is nothing wrong with that.
However, there has to be some balance.
If we are never acknowledging what we are doing right and being happy about it, there is no point in caring at all.
I do not think anybody is expecting something in return.
What could they possibly get?
People choose to come here to speak their mind.
Most members live in areas that are not in the greater Twin Cities and do not have people to talk Viking football with; so they come here to do it.
And you cannot tell me there is not balance.
If you trend the attitudes here you will find differently.
When we were looking at TJ Houshasldkjdasdfa people were excited, happy.
When he did not sign there was a slump in optimism.
People see other teams signing guys and we are not.
The negative attitude is one to be expected.
That being said, when we are doing good we all know who the members are that still find a way to whine when there really is no justified reason to; and those members are usually outed for this.
And if people do not like what they read they do not have to read it.

Anyone, regardless of post count or opinion has the right to voice it on this site IWO (In Webby's Opinion) as long as they do it within his rules......
Maybe some of us, me included, should back the truck up a bit and listen to the fresh voice of reason perhaps..... :

Because it's been that way for a long time now.

If they did not care, they would not complain.
No one should be concerned when people complain - they really shouldn't.
They should be terrified when the fans STOP complaining - then they've truly lost interest and care.
For a perfect example:
MN Timberwolves.
I complained and complained about their Front Office moves from 2004 and on - and now, DEAD SILENCE.
I just don't care anymore.
Not many people do.
No matter what the Vikings do this offseason, some fans are going to be upset.
The best way for the Front Office to cure that is really simple:
show that your strategy worked and show vast improvements on the field.
People on here like to complain, myself included, because we've seen what happens when a team is mismanaged to hell - and it's a horrible reality.
Just the idea the Vikings could turn into the Lions - or worse, the Cleveland Browns, and be moved out of state, not to return for many years.

I hear ya. I wasn't trying to rip the guy, just pointing out he might now read a lot of the other posts peeps put on here. Though I agree a lot of bitching going on, but then again, the way free agency is going I think it's safe to say we have the right to bitch right now...

Re: Viking 'fans'
I agree, as I stated before, that complaining sometimes is normal, natural, and that it means you care.
I guess I can't make anyone do anything, but personally, I don't see the point in even being a fan if the team never meets your expectations.

The way it is.Why do the majority of the Viking 'fans' on this site do nothing than complain and whine about nearly every single move that the Vikings organization makes?
Ziggy, Spielman and Childress have put together a 10 win playoff team that has unarguably improved year after year.
Nobody is going to agree with every decision and move that the Vikings organization makes, but try to be positive every once in a while. There is always a need for some negativity but
why not try to curve some of that passion you have for the team into something that is more than nearly 100% pure negativity.

I can't wait for the 0910VIKINGS
Stick around and get to learn the various personalities and it's not as painful, it's actually funny in a weird and twisted sort of way.
I've been a member for years and there are consistently people that come out of the shadows after a loss and spew their venom.
The Vikings could go 5-0 and then lose and the site will be way busier after the loss with a percentage of the posters that were never posting during the winning streak.
It's a fun site, just give it a chance.
Lot of knowledgable fans with a range of opinions and some morons too just to keep things interesting.
Bottom-line is we are all fanatics, you can't expect rational thought from people that are, by definition, fanatics.Get your facts first, and then you can distort them as much as you please. Mark Twain

Re: Viking 'fans'
"People SOMETIMES complain because they are compassionate for their team and there is nothing wrong with that.
If they did not care, they would not complain."
1000% correct, but
Key Word: SOMETIMES
My post said, "There is always a need for SOME negativity..."
Key Word: SOME
The only reason I made my post was to simply point out that this website's forum is mostly filled with pure negativity and constant complaints.
People are seriously comparing "A 10 WIN PLAYOFF TEAM THAT HAS UNARGUABLY IMPROVED YEAR AFTER YEAR." to the Lions, the Cleveland Browns, and the entire Minnesota Viking franchise be(ing) moved out of state"
Get a hold of your life. Have PRIDE.
PURPLEPRIDE.
