Viking - DEFENSIVE - Line
Depth Chart at the end of Season
DE - Darrion Scott and Spencer Johnson
DT - Pat Williams and CJ Mosley
DT - Kevin Williams and Spencer Johnson
DE - Erasmus James and Lance Johnstone
Add into this Equation - Udeze!!
I am going to take my Puple tinted Glasses off for a second and say this.
I am happy with K and P Will plus Mosley plus Johnstone(part time DE) BUT................
I don't really have a feel for what we are going to get from UDEZE, JAMES SCOTT and JOHNSON. In other words, I am worried about our DE spot. We have seen glimpses of Udeze and James and S Johnson at their finest but we haven't seen it for a prolonged period of time. Do they want to play? Do the want to excel? Are they going to play at a high level?
If we land Hutch, do we go after a DE in the first or second round? Keep in mind that Childress stated that everything starts up front. Does Childress believe in the guys we have on the D-line?

Personally i think we are fine on our defensive line. And if we do land Hutch i am thinking we go after a linebacker in the first round and a quarterback in the second.

Re: Viking - DEFENSIVE - Line
We don't need superstar DE's.. Our DT's will take care of business and our DE's will help..
Udeze puts on alot of pressure and Rassy will come around.. Scott and Johnstone will be good too

Re: Viking - DEFENSIVE - Line
i think he does otherwise he would have visits scheduled with a DE instead of safetys. if you look at the first day we signed a kicker a LB and a RB.our most important holes now we have a OL and some safetys visiting so i think he likes what he has seen

Re: Viking - DEFENSIVE - Line
Our Sack totals were unimpressive last season.
We really need to get more production from K-Wil or we will be in trouble.
Our D-line was not impressive last season!!!
I don't understand if it was scheme last season and/or the new scheme will help this season.
It is really the one area that we haven't addressed yet at all. So either the HC is happy with what he has or we are planning on doing something about it. We didn't take a stab in FA at anyone, so to me it is looking like a draft choice???????

Re: Viking - DEFENSIVE - Line
i still think were going to draft a LB in the 1st and a safety in the second unless darnell bing is off the board. but if we trade culpepper for a 1st or 2nd i can see us drafting another DE altough i dont think that position is too deep this year. but we'll know in a couple weeks as far as the draft drew brees signing with N.O. will definitely shake things up

Well now that no stunt Cottrell is gone, and they will be allowed to play football again I think you will see a much improved line.
