Re: Vikes will be looking for Strong Safety

i don't expect BWill to be here next year. i also think of all the Starting DB's we have, chavous is the most replacable.
McCree would be the best FA and tampa's SS would be a good fit since he already knows the system.

I can see chavous being a DB Coach in the NFL one day.

Yeah I doubt either of those guys will be around.

I like em both. I think the talent around them though is enough for us to bring in Fox at saftey and let him develop, also I think you can get by with a yound DB to replace BW. If smoot can step up, you have some opportunity to develop some long lasting young talent.

Wilf really wants to build up the D he said... I think we should get Archuleta.. Get someone who can put some fear in oncoming WR's.. He is semi-quick and can hit like a truck.. His coverage skills are a liability.. But we have Sharper there and should have a nice pass rush..

Re: Vikes will be looking for Strong Safety

I think if Smoot can stay healthy and play like he did when he was with Washington, then we will have one of the best CB tandems in all of football, if not the best. Chavous is replaceable, however I would love to see Brian Williams stay and move to SS. Whoever said something about Derrick Brooks coming to be our MLB, props dude, that would be great, he already knows the system, and he is still fast, and hits hard. Dexter Jackson would also be a good fit for SS, if B-WIL doesn't want to return. With all of our DB's returning with the exception of a couple, we will still have one of the best Secondary's in the league. I have a feeling we will be faster and alot more aggresive on D this year, I don't know about anyone else, but I was sick of seeing the Vikings defenders give so much room to the opposing WR's, we need to hit them at the line, and make them work for their plays, and I believe that is what we will see with our new D-Cord. All in all it looks good for next season, what are everyone's thoughts on the D-Pep situation? I think he wants out, but stranger things have happened...

The only thing I don't like about Chavous is, when he's talking casually, his eyes seem to roll to the back of his head every few seconds. It annoys me, anyone else ever notice this?

Derrick Brooks is like 34..hes a year or two from retirement. He'd probably cost a pretty penny too. If we could get him cheap then ya I'd take em. Chavous is deff replacable.Dexter Jackson knows the Cover 2 well and would instantly fit...hes no better then chavous...but also no worse.

Theres NOTHING greater then a Florida Gator!

I think both of these guys would be great pick ups. Brooks will be 33 in April, but is an amazing physical specimen and should be able to play productively at least two or three more seasons ... depending on the cap number I say go after him.

I don't think Chavous has lost a step i think he got lucky when he went to the Pro Bowl. Sorry to say but so did Brian Russell. Alot of good safties play great football well into there thirty's cause you don't have to have blazing speed. See Darren Sharper. Chavous's time has come, i'm sick of watching him take false steps and blowing assignments, he can't cover TE's. This new defense should be all about upgrading, not settling for less than what we can get. That means chavous has to go. Anyways chavous is only 29, he probably runs the same slow 40 and all that other stuff that he did when he was 25, he's just not producing. He doesn't cause fumbles, and if a team has time to throw there looking for chavous deep. I'm looking for a full time hitting SS that can make plays, punish WR.

I LOVE to watch Troy Palumalu play, incredible Saftey. Hard hitter, fast, smart, wrap up tackler, all around playmaker.

That article states that they believe if we loose chavous and bwill we will have lost some of that chemistry that we've been building. Brian Williams is the best SS available in FA's and he's not even a saftey. Give him his due, he's been a great player for us, and yes folks he has great zone coverage and causes fumbles. He tackles, he's got efficent speed for a safety and he's got the size. He can also cover TE's. His man on man coverage is also very good but not for 6 seconds. We have to get pressure. I've seen B Will make amazing INT's that reminded me of Ty Law, great body control, smooth hips and he finds the ball in the air. He's also got the size to play saftey and the hitting ability. Sign him up. Resign Offord to play backup.

Maybe he don't want to play safety but i would try to talk him into it. He played it in college and was dang good. (i would definitly be willing to pay him 2.5-2.75 mill if chavous was making 1.9)

If i had the ability to make video's i would definitly make a vid of BWill. I can think of so many plays as i've seen all his games. He's got plenty of highlights to show other teams in FA. I would start with the hit he put on Meshawn... wait the two hits back to back, LOL.
