Are the Vikes Trying Too Hard?
I was sitting watching the NFL Network highlights of last week games a bit ago and watching many of the players smiling, laughing, and congratulating each other after good plays.
And I got to thinking, I haven't seen that much on the Vikings sidelines (then again they haven't had that many good plays
:D).
But it got me to thinking that I wonder if the reason for all the mistakes, particularly on the part of the QB and the receivers is that they are afraid of making mistakes and trying too hard and thereby making mistakes?
I wonder if Childress is emphasizing mistakes too much!
Have you noticed at every press conference he talks about cutting back on the miscues and mistakes. It could be that he is putting too much emphasis on that and the players are scared. Maybe it's time to just go our and have some "fun" playing football and see what happens.
I would love to talk with a Vikings player about this subject.
Re: Are the Vikes Trying Too Hard?
My thought is that they aren't trying hard enough...particularly the WRs in trying to get open!

That is a different perspective for sure, definetly something to think about.

Different people react differently.
Some respond to negative reinforcement, but many others respond to positive reinforcement.
The coaches have to find out what makes this player tick.
You can get on some and it rolls right off, and they will correct the problem.
You dog some others and they become distracted and continue to make mistakes.
I am sure they have a team psychologist whose job it is to figure this out.
If they don't they should have one.
Re: Are the Vikes Trying Too Hard?
I would rather watch our players react the way they have towards adversity vice what I saw from teams like the Chargers and Chiefs key players did this weekend.
These kids are learning, albeit the hardway, what it takes to be a team in the NFL.
Lets hope they keep it that way so that they handle success the same way when it comes along.
Re: Are the Vikes Trying Too Hard?
Some of them (NOT Peterson) are not trying hard enough!
Re: Are the Vikes Trying Too Hard?
I just glad the defense always seems to be trying their best.
We need somebody to step up as an offensive leader stat!
Richardson is always hurt, so he is not effective on the field as a leader.
Hmm...maybe TJack needs to get a phone card and call Peyton every week for leadership lessons.

Holcomb may become the leader once he wins on Sunday!
