Just when the Vikings' kicking situation appeared to settle down, head coach Mike Tice made another startling move.
The Vikings signed veteran kicker Morten Andersen to contract Wednesday morning, just eight days after the team inked Brett Conway to a two-year deal.
Andersen, the second-leading scorer in NFL history, was released by Kansas City last week after losing a training-camp battle to former CFL star Lawrence Tynes.
The 22-year veteran spent the past two seasons with the Chiefs. He converted 16 of 20 field-goal attempts last season, but missed his only try from beyond 50 yards.
Andersen, 44, didn't handle kickoffs regularly in 2003, but Tice said Andersen will handle kickoffs and placekicking duties in Sunday's regular season opener against Dallas.
Travis Dorsch, signed to the practice squad Wednesday, could be added to the active roster to handle kickoffs later this season, according to Tice.
"At some point, we'll take the kickoffs away from Morten and give them to Travis," Tice said.

Interesting move.
As long as he doesn't miss any of our extra points I'll be fine.

What the hell happened to Conway :?:
Is he still on the team? and is this field goals by committee? What we've got here is failure to communicate.

The NFC championship sucked but at least the Vikings were playing in it, not watching it like the Bears."Meet at the quarterback!" -Purple People Eaters
