Helmut Vikes request to interview Tucker for DC role

NFL.com news: Vikes request to interview Tucker for defensive coordinator role

Well looks like another name appeared on the list, least there is time being spent on looking and not appointing the first free person. Will be interesting to see how the DC issue pans out.
Time spent annoying a Packer fan is never time wasted...

IF they get one of Tucker or Spag, I'd consider that a good job. So far, with the exception of canning Dunbar, Spielman seems to be on the right track as GM. Now, having said that, we haven't even touched the player side of things.

I think you need to get the coaching side of things figured out in order to get the player side of things worked out. you just don't know who is going to work well with which coaches and their schemes.

but they do need to get on working on the roster.

We are very limited in what we can do with the roster at this point in time. Re-sign somep layers, but you can't sign anybody unless they have already been cut. Can't negotiate with UFA/RFA's, can't talk trades.

Leslie is in charge of his staff, so i doubt yu can give me credit for Spielman in that regard. I'm not sure we're going to get a top DC candidate, as they are very well aware of our situation here and that their job could last but a year or so... it was still a dumb ass move to fire Dunbar.. IMO

Yeah, I was just about to say the same thing. The only thing that isn't under Spielman's control is the coaching staff. He wouldn't even handle the contract for coaches. Rob Brezezinski handles all contracts.

Sorry Rick! Keep up the good work.

I am guessing the Spielman has some input in the coaching searches, but I think that Frazier has the most say.

Frazier is too nice though. I am guessing he was told to search for a new defensive coordinator. Luckily there are a handful of pretty damn good ones out there. I hope we come across one ready to change things here.

Spielman has said they co-operate with both the roster and the coaching staff, but he has the final say on players and Leslie has on coaches.

I think Leslie knows he needs a really good defensive 4-3 coordinator and both Spags and Tucker is that, i like Morris also but i guess not as much..

If he forces them to run the T2 it doesn't matter who they hire as DC. Might as well hire a Matt Foley to coach them. I believe he is in a van down by the river living off Govt. cheeses.

    LMFAO best line ever.

Back on topic though, Tucker would be a good hire. However I have a feeling he will stay where he is. Malarkey will need competent coordinators, and Tucker did a good job for them last year. I don't know if he will come for a lateral move to Minny.
