BEARS crush you in another 24 to 3 game !
GO BEARS !
Oh puuuuuulease!!!!!
"This #1 D" is only ranked that highly due to the low quality teams you've faced all season long. Let's take a look at who you've beaten again, shall we?
Sep 11 @Washington Lost 7-9 Chicago's powerhouse Offense walks all over the Redskins dynamic Defense....in the Madden version of this game. The real one was a sleeper which saw Chicago lose.
Sep 18 Detroit Won 38-6 Early signs that Joey Harrington wasn't going to get it done for Detroit. Chicago pounds the (eventually) 5-10 Lions into submission...of course, a lot of teams would do that this year.
Sep 25 Cincinnati Lost 7-24 Chicagos vaunted "D" can't overcome 5 ints by Orton. For the first time all season, Chicago got to feel what it was like to play a GOOD team...and crumbled.
Oct 9 @Cleveland Lost 10-20 To prove that the previous week was a fluke, Chicago decides to lose to a crappy team too...just to keep things "real".
Oct 16 Minnesota Won 28-3 In what will be one of Daunte Culpepper's final games of the '05 season, Chicago manages to rack up 14 points on drives of 3 and 1 yards off of Culpepper errors and a late turnover on downs.Kyle Orton, meanwhile, sets the league on fire racking up an amazing 117 passing yards. Paul Edinger also blew 3 (yes, THREE) Field Goal attempts during this game.
Oct 23 Baltimore Won 10-6 Chicago engineers it's sole touchdown drive early in the 1st quarter, allowing Bears fans to go home early and beat traffic.
Oct 30 @Detroit Won 19-13 After blowing a 10 point half-time lead, Chicago manages to final put down Detroit in OT. Kyle Orton actually looked like a real NFL QB during this game...and required OT to win it.
Nov 6 @New Orleans (Baton Rouge, LA) Won 20-17 Chicago decides that charity extends only so far, and steals a victory away from the hapless - and homeless - Saints. The rub is, they required all but 6 seconds of game time to pull it off.
Nov 13 San Francisco Won 17-9 Chicago battles the (then) 2-7 49ers in a game frought with fumbles. It seems that San Fran was already playing for a draft pick...and Chicago was trying like hades to force them to pick lower. Chicago eventually wins...in spite of themselves.
Nov 20 Carolina Won 13-3 Chicago's Defense FINALLY stifles a legitimate Offense. Turning two 1st quarter interceptions into 10 points (3 of which were from the Offense...obviously), Chicago again offers fans the opportunity to go home early. Those guys are all heart.
Nov 27 @Tampa Bay Won 13-10 Dodging a bullet (in the form of a missed late TB field goal), the Bears rally behind Kyle Orton's 134 passing yards game and squeek out a win over the Bucs.
Dec 4 Green Bay Won 19-7 As is Chicago's trademark versus high draft pick teams, this game is again frought with fumbles. Chicago again capitalizes on Brett favre miscues (As most teams did all season) and forces the Packers to leave town without a "W".
Dec 11 @Pittsburgh Lost 9-21 Feeling good about themselves, the Bears forget to get on the bus (literally). Forced to suit up local Bears fans in liue of the actual team, Chicago has their buttocks handed to them on a platter. Many game jerseys are returned with tire marks on them.
Dec 18 Atlanta Won 16-3 Upset over the previous weeks loss, Chicago unveils a new trick play which requires Kyle Orton to throw an interception, then have the Offense cause a fumble on the opponents 1 yard line. The play works with startling success.
Dec 25 @Green Bay Won 24-17 "Duh Bears" decide that since everyone else is using Green Bay as a door mat, they may as well do the same. Division clinched, the Bears celebrate by vowing to NEVER show tape of the Pittsburgh game again...ever....to anyone.
So, as you can see, the road Chicago has travelled hasn't exactly been the most perilous in the history of the NFL. And, with two exceptions, Chicago has failed to actually shut down any REAL Offenses this season.
So, while we may indeed lose, I wouldn't get too excited just yet. There are no 4-12 teams to beat up on in the Play-Offs...and Divison Winners schedules are a LOT tougher than celler dwellers are. Enjoy next year!!!
