Vikes look at other stadium sites?

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) - The Minnesota Vikings haven't given up their plan to build a new stadium, but say they are now looking beyond Anoka County after their $790 million proposal for a complex in Blaine failed to win legislative approval.
Vikings Vice President Lester Bagley said Tuesday that the Blaine proposal may be too political to win approval next year.
"We have a great partnership with Anoka County, but we need a Plan B and Plan C," Bagley told the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
Vikings owner Zygi Wilf "is very much a Plan B and Plan C kind of guy," Bagley said. "There may not be an opportunity in Anoka County. Things change."
However, he wouldn't say what other sites might be considered for a stadium.
Blaine Mayor Tom Ryan and other supporters are discouraged after the Legislature's rejection of the Vikings stadium proposal.
"It's pretty disgusting to have it end this way," Ryan said. "It's sad. This has been four years of work for us."

Get as many plans as possible, so the team doesn't move.

Yes, it is always best to keep your options open and there may be big turnover on the Anoka County Board this election year so they may have to go elsewhere if the new board is anti=stadium.
Re: Vikes look at other stadium sites?
doesnt matter to me where the stadium is built; as long as it is

team wont move regardless..but i personally think blaine will realize the money that hosting a superbowl can bring in and change their minds before the january deadline
Re: Vikes look at other stadium sites?
blaine has always realised the money a superbowl will bring.. thats why they've been for a fixed or retractable roof throughout this entire thing
its wilf that wanted an outdoor stadium
Re: Vikes look at other stadium sites?
If there are elections this year then I can see the stadium being raised as one of the main issues. It will be interesting to see how many of the potential candidates will latch onto the anti-stadium banner if they feel if could be a vote winner.
Certainly makes sense for the Vikes to consider other options so that they have a fallback plan should Anoka County want to withdraw from the stadium plan.

If you are referring to any location in Minnesota, I must wholeheartedly agree with you. However, if you refer to a location outside of the Minnesota borders, I will feel the same just like when the North Stars moved to Dallas.
Re: Vikes look at other stadium sites?
Any location in Minnesota? How about Albert Lea? Or Two Harbors? Warroad?
If the state can't get it done, the Vikes could have a stadium-casino, financed by a Native American tribe . . . that'd be nice! Gamblin' and football all in one spot!!
I jest . . . I jest.
