    LOL
I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is. And besides, wouldn't the season be a lot more fun with a few bucks riding on the outcome?
Gambling lines are another game. 8.5 O/U is very reasonable.
I doubt they get over 10 wins this year and if a few things go sour they could finish at 0.500.
I think everyone would bet the over on this one, on this site anyway.
My last year prediction for the season was within a couple games of 0.500....easy to hit.
This year I'm going with >0.500, but, I don't think it will be by much.
A Prophet you are not, 500? Are you kidding me? If we go 500 or just a game over 500 i want Childress head on a stick. No reason what so ever this team cant go 12-4 11-5 barring any sorta major injuries to a impact player.

IMO, 8.5 is a reasonable o/u number for the Vikings at this point.
There are only 6 teams with higher numbers, and only one NFC team: Pats, Colts, Cowboys, Chargers, Steelers and Jags.

We are in the same company as the Seahawks, Eagles, Saints and last year's SB champs.
    The Pack is at 8.

Look at it from the the o/u numbers and we are in a ranking group from 7-11.
    Not bad.

A lot of people confuse O/U with predicted record.
    NOT the same thing.
I actually think that 8.5 is a pretty dead on for the Vikes right now.
The Bet is basically "will they finish with a winning record?".
Yes, and if you use these numbers, we win the NFC North and are in the playoffs, anywhere from a 2-4 seed.
If they offered that to me today without playing the season, I would take it in a heartbeat.

    Re-read what I said.
I said >0.500, but not by much.
If you want me to put a specific call on it I will go with 10-6.
That will be good enough to make the playoffs.
The playoffs are a whole different story, new season.

There will be plenty of people that will give up on the season if the first game of the season is an L.

Well, I'm no gambler and I don't know anything about it. But the way I see it is that with the odds at 8.5 they are saying we will not win 9 games or more. Where am I wrong?

I'm with Prophet, 10-6... but finishing strong.

Peterson will unload in the postseason.

    You're correct in a way.
Vegas is all about winning money.
So, they put the O/U at a place that is a tough call.
They get a bunch of people betting on both sides of the O/U and win some coin, or, if they don't, they don't lose a lot.
If they make the O/U ridiculous in either direction they will have a higher probability of losing money.
The trick is to make people go hmmmmmmmmmmm wtf should I do.
I'm sure I'm stating the obvious.
Nodak will probably give and in-depth statistical analysis.

I see 9-7 possible, 10-6 is more likely but 11-5 if we get a break or 2 and stay healthy, I see that as a reality

how the hell can you call yourself a vikings fan if you don't think they can win more than 8 games and possibly take the division i mean come on the only threat really in our division is greenbay i really could see minnesota winning more than 8 games i say 10-6 that is the most realistic scenario
    What are you talking about?
I didn't say that I agree with him.
Besides, who says you're not a Vikings fan if you're realistic about a season's outcome?
Most regular users on here are able to shed the purple glasses once and awhile and have realistic expectations.
That doesn't mean we're not fans of the team.

That sound alot more realistic, i'll take 10-6 any day. That will put us in the playoffs easily in the NFC. I really think there capable of sneaking a few more wins in though then that. I will not call the season a bust if we start 0-2 or 0-3 but this board will light up like a X mas tree if we end up starting 0-2. I may not have a high post count but been here longer then most lurking around and getting my Viking info to know it will be the end of the world to most if we start 0-2..lol
