Thread: Vikes 2007 - best and worst list

My personal Best / Worst list for us this past year:

BEST:

- Adrian Peterson torching SD and the Bears
- Steve Hutchinson
- Kleinsasser's blocking
- Aundrey Allison's TD kick return
- The Vikings defense against the Giants
- The downfield blocking by the receivers
- Pat Williams' run defense (!!)
- E.J. Henderson
- Abandoning the Tampa 2 Defense and just blitzing
- Ziggy Wilf running down the sideline in Giants Stadium with that grin on his face
- The way the team came back after the Green Bay 34-0 game


WORST:
- "zone blocking" (allowing defenders to rush with no blocker on them at times)
- Not adjusting to 8 and 9 men defenders in the 'box' in three straight games (49ers, Bears, and then Redskins)
- Tarvaris throwing off his back foot
- Not getting Peterson in space
- "Two year rebuilding process"
- Williamson dropping balls
- Kevin Williams almost dying after running 60 yards in the Dallas game
- The play of Bryant McKinnie
- Putting in a tight end to field goal kick block in the Dallas game, in the middle of the line (in essence, putting him in to block a guy who outweighs him by 50 pounds)
- Not having a legitimate backup QB to the bad starting QB we have
- Bobby Wade being totally overpaid
- Letting Fred Smoot pick that pass off
- Not beating Green Bay at least once

My surprise of the year is how well (at times) the right side of the line looked this season. I need to give them a lot of credit, because they played a lot better than I had expected.

I would disagree with this. He was very good this year and played with a lot of heart. One of our best players on offense.

Ditto, he played very well

Lookin at his numbers they were pretty good compared to all of our other WR's

For all you Chilly supporters out there... he is 0-4 against GB. You just keep on going supporting him. That would be like Jim Tressel being 0-4 against Michigan.

But again... you just keep on going supporting him.

bobby wade is not bad but he is def not a number one WR. Sidney rice looked very promising to fill that spot if he wouldnt have gotten hurt but mainly if we would have just thrown the ball to him more.

Maybe he meant Shanko. Now that is overpaid.

I think anytime you pay a slot receiver that much money, he better be Wes Welker or Brandon Stokely. I just don't see Wade in that category. For instance, I would expect Wade to have done more - given his pay - to get open on critical plays, for instance in the Washington game. The job of such a slot receiver is to be the check-down guy when the other receivers are covered. I just didn't see that in Wade. So I thus conclude that he is overpaid.

Maybe it is unfair to criticize him like this. Wade had a decent year. But like I said, if you pay him like Welker, he should be like Welker.

Keep in mind that Welker has Tom Brady, and the Patriots don't have AD.
There stats simply aren't going to be the same.
I think Wade earned his money this year.

Just a couple of comments......

You realize that the ZB scheme is supporting the run.
In most instances the guys were man-to-man blocking during passing situations.

Didn't I read he has some sort of asma or something like that?

I think B-wade did his job this year no matter how much he cost.
It is my opinion that we won't see the fruits of our WR's until next year when "Futureboy" learns how to throw.
Until then I hold judgement on all WR's/TE's/RB's in the passing scheme (except T-will)
