Re: Vikes are 2-1 with a brutal 1st 3 game schedule.....I'd say
Reviewing the rest of the schedule, The Vikings have a good chance of making the playoffs due to a good start.
Of course I'm taking in consideration that the Vikings have four games with weak NFC North opponent's in Detroit and Green Bay.
Buffalo is a hard team to figure out. They never seem to be going in a clear direction each year and they have a few new players that play well at times. Are the Bills playoff bound or back to 7-9 or 8-8

Re: Vikes are 2-1 with a brutal 1st 3 game schedule.....I'd say
I am extremely pleased with how the Vikes are starting the year.
I originally picked them to go 9-7 this year, but I had them losing the first two games and beating chicago in the dome.
So that tells you how good my prediction abilities are. ;D
Here is my highly scientific look at the rest of the schedule.
Most Likely Wins:
Green Bay X 2
Detroit X 2
49ers
50/50s:
Buffalo
Miami
Arizona
Jets
Rams
Probable Losses:
Seattle
New England
Bears
If we count the probable wins as wins, and the probable losses as losses, and half the 50/50s as wins (see I told you it was highly scientific
), we end up with an overall record of 10-6 or 9-7.
That might be enough to make the playoffs, but we need to have some good showings against those 50/50 teams to solidify it, and can't afford to lose to any of the probable win teams.Zeus wrote:
When are you going to realize that picking out the 20 bad throws this year and ignoring the 300 good ones does not make your point?

12-4 is highly likely for us IF our offense can find some rhythm AND we can keep from sustaining any major injuries to our starters!
And of course, if SMOOT gets his head out of his A$$!!!BANNED OR DEAD...I'LL TAKE EITHER ONE

As sleepagent said, stark reality.IF we keep improving every week, then I can agree that we are playoff bound!
But our offense needs to step it up...especially in the passing game!
Too many mistakes, even by key players.
Birk looks slow and out of it, he missed Harris on the CT fumble.
Harris said, on that play, Hutch tipped him off that he was pulling by sitting lite in his stance so he shot the hole.
Twill missed a ball that was thrown a bit high by BJ, but it was still catchable if he locates it in time.
TTaylor fumbles on a key drive.
Smoot gets a pass interference call that negates a INT.
Whitaker lets Davis get behind him on that Bears TD.
What I am getting at, is that you can predict which games we will win or lose, but you can't predict this stuff.
This is also the reason why I can't say that we are guaranteed to take 2 from the Pack and the Lions.
Positives:
Running at times both Moore and CT.
Defensive Sceme, on that INT by AW, right before that, Tomlin told the D that they were going to release the linemen to stir up Rex and to be ready for ballhawking the INT.
Ryan Longwell, again!
Yes, back to Cajun's quote, we have to improve.
Good teams win the games that they are suppose to.
We were suppose to win the Bears game at home. We need to keep improving.
I think we are still a playoff team the way we sit right now, but not necessarily a contender.
To be a contender, we have to get, not better, but more consistant.

I think by picking us to sweep the packers and the lions you have made a mistake.

Don't we go to Lambeau in december as usual?
Other than that you can put the Jets in the win department. They are not coming into Minnesota and beat us.
Thanks to PPE for the sig.

Re: Vikes are 2-1 with a brutal 1st 3 game schedule.....I'd say
In the end alot of it os going to come down to penalties and injuries. We cannot expect to go 12-4 with the number of penalties we are having and we also cannot afford to lose a starter a week to injury without getting too thin.
I personally think we are at the point in depth where we cannot lose any more starters without having real problems. And the 100,000,000.00 line needs to start jackiing up thier play.
