Another unsung hero.
The casual football fan probably doesn't even have the faintest clue that there are 3 important groups on a team.
Offense. Gets most of the glory and what most people associate/know the most about.
Joe fan can even talk to you about something more than the deep ball.
Defense.
A few stars usually make the highlight film but not as much as the offense.
Joe fan knows just enough to be dangerous when talking defensive schemes.
Special Teams.
Hell, I bet 75% of the fans can't tell you who is actually on the ST other than a couple of guys who get all the tackles and the Kickers.
They probably don't realize how coverage schemes are devised and what a gunner does or how the coverage crew tries to channel the returner to those specialized tacklers.
Again, unsung heros in this day and age of field position and the strategy to control it.
