Viable Quarterback Options
Who is a viable option at QB for next year? What are the options?
Christian Ponder?
Joe Webb?
Flacco is a FA, but no way he gets away from Baltimore.
Is Michael Vick a possible option? Would we do it? He won't be there next year. He could come a bit cheaper than expected.
Alex Smith?
Will we be high enough to grab Matt Barkley? Is Landry Jones better than Ponder?

My best case would be Vick or Smith.
I am leaning towards Smith because he can stay healthy and has performed ok with a TE and RB and not much more at WR. Our GM needs to:
1. Sign Smith to a multi year contract, could be had cheaply since being cut.
2. Trade for Bowe & work out a deal paying about 7 million a year. In this market WRs demand it.
3. Draft Utah's DT, who has proven to be a pocket collapsing tackle.
4. Trade back into the 1st round to secure the services of 1 of the big 4 Wrs.
5. Sign Harvin to a long term contract.
This will give us a a WR corps of Bowe, Harvin, Woods with Rudolph at TE. Our QB is careful with the ball and has been proven to play mistake free ball.

Already made a thread about this last week: IF Ponder truly isn't our guy..
Feel free to weigh in.
I personally think Barkley is going to fall to possibly as low as the upper teens.

The last thing the Vikings should do is sign Vick. We have had way too many retreads already.

So... we're back at the same place we were in 2009? Hate to say I told you so.... but, uh, yeah... I told you so.
We cannot go with another stop-gap veteran solution. That is not the answer.Disclaimer: I'm an idiot.

Phillip Rivers is surely gone in san diego along with norv turner. Wouldnt mind bringing in both.. Norv as OC

Can't see them just cutting Rivers as well with no backup plan, and no charlie whitehurst is not a backup plan. We'd have to trade, and it probably wouldn't be cheap.
Not sure I like Rivers here, the guy can't hold on to the ball when getting sacked, think of how bad he'd look here.

Let's give this a try. Not pretty ... but more effective then we've seen lately.

Tyler Wilson should be there, he was a top 10 pick at start of the season. Injury and coach change have dropped his stock a bit though..
