Very interesting question...

...posted on RubeChat (and being discussed on KFAN this morning):

You get one Viking from the past to add to the '08 team...who is it and why?

Who would you want on this year's team?

I'm picking Korey Stringer.

Randy Moss!
No more 8 in the box and the combination of AD and Moss will keep opponent's DC up drinking the night before.

With all due respect to a man who died way too young, he's not even in my top 10, probably not in my top 20.

I'd much rather have:
* Cris Carter
* Anthony Carter
* Sammy White
* Ahmad Rashad
* Randy Moss
* John Gilliam
* Joey Browner
* Carl Lee
* Matt Blair
* Jim Marshall
* Alan Page
* Carl Eller
* Ron Yary
* Ed White
* Mick Tinglehoff
* Jack Del Rio
* Steve Jordan
* Fran Tarkenton
* Tommy Kramer

About the only position where I do NOT think that a Viking from the past would be an improvement is tailback.
Maybe LG.

Agree, nice to see you giving Ed White some love.
He is ignored too often for my likings.

Ed White was a monster.

* Gary Zimmerman
* Randall McDaniel
* Paul Krause
* Jeff Siemon

I'm sure I'm missing LOTS here.

Re: Very interesting question...

I heard about this on KFAN this morning too.

I absolutely don't think that Randy Moss would be the answer.
If I had more confidence in our QB, then I would go with Moss.
But I just don't know if any of our QBs have either the deep accuracy (TJack) or the arm strength (Booty) to properly utilize Moss.

I would rather pick up Tark, Cunningham, or Moon.

I was going strictly on need...but I want to edit my pick to Ron Yary...can't believe I overlooked one of the greatest OT's of all time.

True, any of the players you mentioned are great, and improvements over current players, but if it's one player, I'm torn between an OT and QB.

I remember Ed White on ABC's Superstars (?) competition in the 70's.
