Just goes to show how important depth is, hopefully it isn't a tear (although it sounds like it is). I have a feeling Dwight Smith was going to end up starting anyways. Looks like Offord will be backing up both safety spots.
No doubt. The Dwight Smith pickup looks better than ever now.

Wow. I hope it's not his ACL again, but it doesn't sound too good.

Are Dustin Fox and Greg Blue chopped liver?
Not chopped liver, they just have the least NFL experience. All I'm saying is if Tank is out and Sharper or Smith go down, Offord will be the top backup at both spots.

    Re: Tank Williams injury

I had an ACL tear playing high school football. It bothered me with college ball as well. I feel it every day at work. It never "never" fully goes away. It's gotta be one of the worst injuries for any athelete. I wish god would have designed the knee a little better. It's just not a part of the body made for sports. Ball and socket instead of a hinge joint. Could you imagine the moves you could make. I wish Tank all the hope in the world it's not the same injury.

If he screamed in pain, I bet it hurt bad, meaning it was probably serious.

I was on the field with him," said fellow safety Willie Offord, who had surgery nine months ago to repair torn ligaments in his knee. "It didn't look good."

If it's as bad as it looks, then it looks like D. Smith will be starting this year...and we should consider ourselves lucky. Even though I was not really for signing him, it appears to be a smart move after all.

Maybe we should trade for DEdwards "just in case" one of our LBs go down...
