Vikings agree to terms with draft picks Fason and Ward

The Vikings agreed to terms with fourth-round pick Ciatrick Fason and seventh-round pick Adrian Ward today. Terms were not disclosed.

Fason, who left the University of Florida after his junior season, was rated by some as the No. 4 overall running back in last June's draft.

Last season, he became the first Florida back to lead the SEC in rushing since 1993. He rushed for 1,267 yards on 22 carries with 10 touchdowns. He also had 35 receptions for 266 yards and two TDs.

Ward, a cornerback, had 98 tackles and eight interceptions in two seasons at Texas-El Paso.

The Vikings still have five unsigned picks, including first-rounders Troy Williamson (receiver) and Erasmus James (defensive end).

The Vikings report to training camp Friday in Mankato.

really glad to see Fason signed.....

I think James will be right behind those two, and sounds like from what I've heard, Troy has a decent agent who likes to get his guys signed...

I really don't see any problems with the guys we have to sign, so far...

would also like to see Cory and Brian put an end to their contract demands....

I read somewhere that the Vikes have already put an offer on the table for Troy... let's hope he likes it. With teams only able to spread signing bonus money over 5 years instead of 6, due to the unresolved CBA situation, cap managers this year have to be a little more creative. Still, seeing as we have one of the best cap situations in the league, we should be AOK.

Those stats on Fason seem pretty impressive....

By my math that equals out to be 57.5 yards per carry.
Now thats what I call a ball carrier LOL

think the first roudn picks are waiting for the number 1 draft pick to sign first to see how the offer compares. Thats teh way the game goes lol

Looks like the first round signings have started with the Pats signing Logan Mankins to a 5 year, $6.4mil deal. Kind of off-topic, but the Pats have now signed ALL of their picks from the recent draft. Hopefully now that at least 1 first rounder has signed, more will soon follow.
