Re: Troy Williamson WASTE OF A #1 Pick

I made this statement 5 weeks ago and was almost booted from the site.

I wish he would just blow up.

BOTTOM LINE IS - NOT WORTH THE 7th PICK = I STILL THINK MIKE WILLIAMS WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER HERE.
Good god ... when you posted it then I also told you what a tool you were to make such a statement. Lets post the names again since you seem to think there are SO MANY people taken at No. 7 that are so good!

Since 1982 such studs as: Darrin Nelson (sorry), Todd Blackledge, Ricky Hunley, Ken Reuttgers, Brian Jozwiak, Reggie Rogers, Tim Worley, Andre "fricking" Ware, Charles McCrae, Mike Mamula, Ike Hilliard and Andre Carter have been taken at No. 7 ... that is 12 nothings in 24 years. There is not ONE Hall of Famer since 1982 (maybe Champ Bailey) and the best retired player taken at No. 7 is Sterling Sharpe.
Current players doing productively from that spot: Terry Glenn, Bryant McKinnie, Byron Leftwich, Thomas Jones (who did nothing for four years), Roy Williams.

I mean what did you expect at No. 7? I'll take T-Will over Todd Blackledge, Ike Hilliard or Andre "fricking" Ware any day.

By the way, the ONLY player taken at No. 7 to have a HIGHLY succesfull rookie campaign was Terry Glenn. Bailey was OK, Sharpe was OK and Bryant Young was OK. So one player in 24 years blows up at No. 7 and you apparently think it should happen every year? And then you b*tch about people who gave you hell a couple of weeks ago?

In my honest humble opinion, I believe we wouldn't have this many threads with topics like these if there was no fantasy football.

It has become apparent to me that some people don't care as much about their team winning as they do about how many points the boys on their fantasy football team can score for them.

Personally, I don't care how much the ball is spread around, it keeps the defense guessing.

I also don't care if we put up 10 points or 50 points as long as we win the game.
That is a very fair point. I definitely notice that people who are still fairly productive get put on as if they are bad players because they don't produce "fantasy" points.

Please elaborate on why you think Williams was the better pick than T.Will?
Cause I am the first to admit, I wanted Williams at #7 also, but now I am FIRMLY convinced T.Will was the right choice for us. Please explain.
My sentiments exactly. I remember sitting in my chair with my 9 year old daughter crying when they called T Will's name. I wanted Williams. But the more I learned about him made me feel he is the right choice for us in the long run. Seeing MW play against us the last time convinced me of it. At least at this time.

I posted on here this summer that I was playing golf with the Offensive Cordinator of the Carolina Panthers and was lamenting us taking TW over MW. And he said "That kid you got will be a much better player in the long run than MW. I had him rated higher as well. He has skills to be a superstar in this league, MW will be a good reciever, but I dont think he has can be as great as TW." That was all I had to hear. I figure there is just the slightest chance that he might know a little more about football than I do.

MWill did nothing other than help cost Mooch his job. He has a whole 16 more yards than T-Will with five more catches, 3-LESS 20+ catches and one LESS TD. Stat wise they are fairly even, despite the fact that Williams plays 85 percent of the plays. He has also lost TWO fumbles despite the ball only being in his hands 27 times! ... he looks slow out there, ask any Lions fan ... all three of them

I didn't... I ready half the first page then hit the reply button. Right when I saw the name Randy Moss I knew where it was going... the same place they all go.
The best part of my day is when I get down on my knees, with my head in my hands, and thank GOD for everything he has given me.

Wrong! It didn't go there & I didn't intend for it to go there.

I dis-like the M/Anti-M threads as much as the next guy.

I was merely pointing out to somone who thought that the only rookie to make the pro bowl in his 1st year was a RB.
