Thread: Troy Williamson WASTE OF A #1 Pick

We had a #1 offense at the end of the 04 season. What would you look to get if you had lost a #1 receiver. We were winning games last year with our offense not defense.

What do you mean? As I recall, Taylor wasn't even on the team during the draft & for sure K-Rob wasn't.

Besides rookie receivers take time to bring into the NFL as a general rule. 2nd or 3rd year before they are starters if the team can afford it.

For those teams who start their star rookie receivers, a lot of them don't have successs their 1st year.

:roll: show me ANY other rookie WR that has come out with amazing #'s his rookie season. Please do some research on WR's and draft and realize that they always take a year or 2 for them to develop. He is putting up the same numbers as any other WR this year including Edwards.

I am one that was all for drafting an O-lineman (not at no.7) or Ware or Merriman, but I wouldn't go so far as to say that TROY is a Waste.

He is a Rookie!

He is learning!

We don't have time to have him learn on the field when we have to play at the top of our game every week. We have capable vets in there right now and there is no hurry.

Was Edwards for the Browns a wasted pick too? No, they both have potential in the NFL.

Not one Rookie has been flat out awesome. They have been up and down all season.

I don't think that people that call any of these Rookies a Waste is looking at the Big Picture.

I agree that Vikes should expect more out of him simply because he is a number 7 pick. I reluctantely will give him another year to see some magic, though. Maybe two more. But if they don't improve him every year, then definately a bust. Maybe on the coaches if they don't try to develope him.
