Trash Talkers = Troublemakers?
Well, we all remember Moss' trash talk. At least he could back it up but he was constantly in trouble.
Now comes Smoot. Trouble is, he can't back up the trash talk.
They say that the trash talkers are somewhat team leaders in the locker room. Well, if that's the case, it's no wonder we're in trouble.
You know what really upsets me is that everytime a good tackle is made or a pass defended you'd think by the reaction of the player that they had won the game single-handedly. But in most cases it's the only good play that made all game. I hate that showing off!
Now Pat Williams -- here's a great player who is constantly making good plays. You don't see him showing off after a tackle or shooting off his mouth. I wish the rest of the Vikings would follow his lead.Kentucky Vikes Fan

When you require nothing, you get nothing; when you expect nothing, you will find nothing; when you embrace nothing, all you will have is nothing.

Not walking the walk.
He got trashed on the field yesterday. Smith was making fun of Smoot after the game during the PC.
Smith basically said that Smoot pissed him off.

He'll run his mouth at the other team, but unlike moss will give you 120% on the field, and unlike TO win not be a cancer in the locker room.

If you talk too much, eventually you will eat it.
One big difference between Smoot and CJ is that CJ is in a position with a team that can back it up.

Eating crow and being a troublemaker are 2 different things though.

Re: Trash Talkers = Troublemakers?
I've seen quite enough of Fred Smoot this year. Steve Smith beat him like a rented mule and a red-headed stepchild all at once. I hope that Smith's endzone celebration (which was one of the best of all-time) really chaps someones a$$ on the Vikings and they play with a little emotion (and if we're lucky a little heart) sometime in the next 8 games.
If I hear Michelle Bonner say "He works that one to right" one more time, I m getting on a plane for Bristol, going to the ESPNEWS set, and ripping out her vocal cords.

I don't buy into the fact that trashtalking = trouble maker to the extent that you are worried about on the public relation side.Eating crow and being a troublemaker are 2 different things though.
But I do believe that both of them can be accused of causing trouble by lighting a fire under other players butts and helping them rise to the ocassion.
I think they should all shut up and just play the game.
They both look like idiots when they trash talk. I don't find CJ's humor in his trash talking either, I don't find any humor in it. It would be different if they came out on top everytime, but they don't. Also, this is a team sport. Both of their positions definitely get help from someone else on the field to do their jobs to the level they talk.
FOOTBALL IS A TEAM SPORT..!!!!

i just hope smoot has learned his lesson as far as his trash talking is concerned...the "highlights" of smoot gettin burned were embarassing...if hes as good as he thinks he is, his play on the field will be all the talking he has to do...
peace...peace...
