Training Camp battles

So we are not far away from the training camp that starts on July 27th, and I would like to draw your attention to some of the key battles that'll be coming up.

Of course there will be many battles for the last backup roster spot, or a practice squad position, but I'll focus on what I see as the most important ones. Fell free to comment, or ad other battles to the discussion.


2. starting WR behind K-Rob:
Troy, Travis Taylor, M-Rob or even Billy McMullen?

I think it will go to Troy, who has to show why he was a 7th overall pick last year. But it is not given that it'll be handed to him before he shows in camp that he deserves it.


WLB
Greenway or EJ?

This is really up in the air at this point. I've seen people saying that Greenway was draftet to start. But so far EJ has been getting the snaps with the first team, and it really just might well depend on how quickly Greenway gets his game to the pro level.


MLB
Napo, EJ or Donterrius Thomas?

Just as open as the Will. But it seems from now that it'll be Napos spot to loose. Still if Greenway takes the Will, EJ will be a more legitimate competition in the middle.


Nickle corner
Dovonte Edwards, Cedric Griffin, Ronyell Whitaker or Dustin Fox?

I honestly can't call this. Maybe the toughest competition out there. Right now my best guess is Edwards, but it's a shot in the dark.


Punter
Kluwe or Torp?

This may not be as sexy as the other battles, and if Kluwe hadn't been injured it would be his spot I think. Now Torp has had time to showcase his skills, and could be a thread. I'll still go with Kluwe, that were not far from a Pro Bowl worth performance last season. A season where he played with serious knee injury in the end of the season, which I think was insane, but also shows toughness in the young lad.

What the heck, I'll give you a bonus battle:
Two starting DEs
Udeze, James and Darrion Scott?

I'll give it to Udeze and James right now. But if either of them don't produce, or lacks the quickness on the first step. Scott is right there behind them pushing for a starting spot.

I agree with everything you said, except one thing..

I think Nickel will be Ronyell Whitaker.. With the way he played in NFL Europe, and his understanding of the " Tampa 2 defense, he has the edge on everyone.. I do agree with you on the others however..

I agree with you 100% on that one. I am hoping that Troy gets the start because I'm pretty sure he deserves it.

Your just saying that because you want TROY from me in the fantasy league we are in... :lol: :lol: :lol:

2nd WR-Troy and Travis split. Travis made some big plays for us last year.

WLB-Greenway. He'll show that he's every bit as good as the other LB's taken ahead of him.

MLB-Henderson. We don't have anyone better to fill that spot.

Nickel Package-Ronyell Whitaker/ Devonte. At least until the game slows down for Cedric Griffin.

Punter-Kluwe. Enough said.

DE-Udeze, and James/Scott will share time on the other side.

E.J. Henderson is not in the competition for middle linebacker he is staying on the outside and Harris and Thomas will be the only players that are going for the MLB position.

DE I think Scott should start over Udeze along side James

I would hope so to. But I have a feeling that Edwards will be on the practice squad.
