I think poor drafting after the first round, and picking up refuse of the NFL type, free agents at times, has left this team lacking in depth.
Every team has stars, but it seems the over all quality of the non-star, journeymen type players are crucial to a teams success.
How are Spielman's 1st thru 4th round picks from his last 3 years doing this year?
Floyd: Not a lot of playing time
Rhodes: Average so far
Patterson: Still raw & learning his routes
Kalil: Took a big step backwards & struggling
Smith: Likely done for the year
Wright: Only 7 catches in 5 games. Less than 100 yards
Rudolph: One of the better TE's in the league that isn't used enough & to his potential
Ballard: Doing zilch

Rumors here in DFW about trade with Vikes seems to hold water right now. Word is it will possibly go down after Giant game. We shall see. Owner and Coaches ready to gut Vikings for 3-5 year plan to rebuild? What the hell are we doing now?
Might be able to move Ponder to the Rams or maybe even the Bears. I would prefer the Bears.
But no way will the Vikings get a mid round pick for him.
Allen could get dealt but he has a huge contract that causes cap concerns that would make a deal less likely.
Carlson could go but who would want him ?
